Has anyone ever bought stuff from this place? [A href="vny!://www.mmmeatshops.com/"]vny!://www.mmmeatshops.com/[/A]
Yep.
Really good and delish.. easy preprepared food.
Just bewarned it is expensive, or more than what you might expect.
Sometimes, they have good sales but I agree with Russ that it's pricey. I don't shop there that often nowadays. I don't have a lot of freezer space.
LOL, they do have sales, but not enough to make me buy amounts that I need to use my freezer. I instead enjoy stuffing my freezer full of bulk items from costco.. so I can make my own creations.
I wish I had a deepfreeze to handle Costco's stuff!
The prices are a bit expensive, but the items are all good. Most everything is individually wrapped (ie a 4 pack of individually wrapped bacon filet mignon) so it's good for a single person, too.
It's an alternative to eating out.
I like their cabbage rolls, maple glazed salmon and the individual frozen lunch entrees. Their key lime pie is yummy too.
Hey, good feedback, guys. I'm curious as I keep seeing their flyers but am not sure what their food is like. I guess they are a tad pricey but are they worth it?

Yes. Like LM, and PL say. It IS good.
cabbage rolls are my fav.
All these pre-marinated meat cuts takes the fun out of cooking. And I've eaten some bad steaks from this chain. Best to support your local Mum and Pop butcher shop and learn to marinate yourself. In Burnaby that would be Rocky's on Hastings St (south sid) near Willingdon. In New West, the Queen's Park butcher on 2nd St and 4th Ave.

Oh, I've seen that place a few times. How are the prices? I seem to miss the opening hours whenever I'm near by. :(
Personally I'm not a big fan of M & M stuff. But I think the point isn't about buying food there as a substitute for home cooking. I think it's for occasional convenience, when busy lives sometimes interfere with time to cook.....or when you simply don't feel like cooking.
Are you the primary cook in your home stretch ?
I don't know about prices at butcher shops. I don't care about prices when I'm supporting a local Mum and Pop business. Having a relationship with the owner/operator is worth more to me than "saving" 20% or whatever and being just a number, consuming mass produced grade A ready for the peasants meat.
There are two cooks but the lady seems to usually dominate. She's better at cooking more things, but what I cook she says is the best. Love is blind! Or is it?
I suppose not everybody is in that snack bracket, where they can blow off 20% savings. However, I agree.....there is always something to be said for your local butcher or baker or produce shop. [/DIV]
I just threw 20% out there. I don't know if one pays more or less. But what is quality worth? If only more people (Catlickers for example) would learn to use birth control and then they could eat better!

I wish that I didn't have to care about prices like yourself when it comes to shopping at Butchers.
Food is very important. Skimp on other things, but not on food.
I love my mom and pop butcher shop. The prices are actually good if you buy the "specials of the week". However, I don't often go there becauase I'm lazy....easier to get everything from Costco.
Some butchers sell the better grade of meats......therefore they will be more expensive than chain stores. Costco sells USDA Choice grade beef, far better than the Select grade sold at Safeways
Costco meats are no bargain. But they ARE good meats.
I am not a big fan of M&M meatshop. I tried their shepherd's pie, HORRIBLE. Their cabbage rolls tasted like nothing but salt. I guess when you take the time to cook and prepare your own meals, places liek M&M's don't make the cut.
I'm off to get Costco meat today.
I like the bulk packs of "bargain meats"- ground beef, ground turkey, pot roasts, chicken parts, etc.
Crockpot season is starting this week.
Crockpot season is starting this week.
So it's official then.
*raises the crock pot flag*
*fires pistol*
Bought a pile of bargain meats with my Costco rebate cheque.
Excellent Lil Me !
What kind of membership do you need for the Costco rebate ?
What sorts of recipes do you do miss LM?
I like doing spagball type with red wine.
Soup, spag sauce, chili, etc.
I found a crock pot meatloaf that I want to try.
Tomorrow, I'm doing a "Coke roast" in the crock pot....a can of coke, a package of onion soup mix and some veggies is supposed to make a nice gravy. We'll see.
I have the Exc membership at Costco. I've had one for a couple years now. At the very least, it pays for itself. I think 49er gets a substantial rebate cheque, if I remember correctly.
Coke roast is in the crock pot.
Cool! Let us know how it turns out and how you did it.
I know I had coca cola chicken wings while in china.. it seemed to be a well known and liked dish.
With all of the good wholesome ingredients available why would one resort to putting highly refined pre-packaged soup mix and a can of coke into a crock pot? You're kidding right?
lol. I'm not kidding.
Wanted to experiment with something different.
Back to buckwheat and bean sprouts tomorrow....
I was just thinking that will garlic, challets, rosemary, tyne, some meat and veggies, one could make such a delicious meal. No need to bother with coke and onion soup mix, lol!
Stretch ! Is this you ? Shallots, and thyme ?
I like experimenting too. Like that old mock apple pie recipe that had no apples in it.....lol !
HAD to try it.....just had to. Now Lil Me has my curiosity going for this one as well.[/DIV]
Coke roast is delish. 2 thumbs up (though I'm weirdly "burpy" right now...)
Well there ya go. Now I gotta try it.
