Title: Bad Bad Program
Post by: P.C. on Aug 27 08 10:58
Does anyone use Corel ?

I've used it for years and years.  Started out with Corel 4.....up-graded to 7 and up-graded again to Corel 12.  4 I never used until I took the course at Malaspina and went right to 7 (which was current at the time).  It's an awesome program.

Now I have 12......and it is THE crappiest program EVER.  I thought an up-grade implied an improvement.  It crashes my system constantly, which always brings up a window requesting you run the Application Recovery Manager Wizard....which is pointless as it has yet to be successful.  Today I actually took the time to fill out the 'report problem' thing....which I did in detail......and it brought up another window telling me they couldn't send the report to Corel.  Soooooo.....what was the point in the request, if the problem has already crashed the system.  Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

OK.....so this was mostly a rant......but I would like to know if anyone else has this issue, because I'm starting to believe I got a buggy program.

I stuck with Corel version 7 and it has loads of problems too. Sometimes I'll be editing something and the screen just goes "poof" and disappears- losing all my work with it. I'm thinking about switching to PhotoShop, but I'm not happy about learning all of the new/different command, processes, etc etc.

Well now I'm really PO'd.

I uninstalled the program.....to reinstall.  Of course I can't locate my serial number....so went to corel.com, where I'm getting a 404 error.  SO....I called their 1-800 number, where they apparently no longer have the information. I learn this after going the 'assistance in locating serial number' route.....press 1 press 3 press 6 press 492 press 6387.(//vny!://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/Angry/2.gif)   I'm going to burst.  I'm in the middle of a time sensitive project, (that I have left to the last minute as usual).

TehBorken.......to me Corel 7 has got Corel 12 beat by a thousand miles.  7 had some quirks, but 12 is just a pain in the a$$.  It has about 1/1000 of the clip-art and graphics that 7 had. (not that I use most of it)   Some of the best features of 7 have not only NOT been improved.....they have been completely eliminated.  I have mentioned a few times over the last couple years to hubby, that it seems like I'm running a trial version.

I hear ya on the switch Michel.....but it's not that easy to scrap a $1200 program.

I'm spitting nails now.  The 'support' guy tells me to scan the disks and email the image to him.  Call me crazy, but does this prove anything MORE than me just telling him I have them.  If I didn't have them.....why the hell would I want a serial number ?????????  He knew our name and address, but says we don't have an account with them.  So I asked him how he knew our name ?

I don't know.....maybe it's just me.....but this makes no sense to me.  It seems like an exercise in futility.

Aw.  P.C. is having a "kick the computer day".
  Time for a drink?

I don't have these issues because I refuse to draw or draft anything anymore...whether with a computer or without.

OK.....so now I feel shame.  Hub says the reason they wanted me to send a scanned image of the disks was to ensure they weren't bootlegged copies.

  * he could have just SAID that when I got to the hyphenated part. [img style="CURSOR: pointer" onclick=url(this.src); src="vny!://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/liebe/g038.gif" border=0]

I can't get over the difference in how my computer is running now.  If I'd have known it was the source of the problem, I'd have dumped it long ago.
