The catch though, they want you to move it.
A craftsman bungalow on Water Street in Summerside could be saved now that the owner has put it up for sale for $1.[/p] [blockquote class="pullq"]'We just thought it was getting to be an eyesore.'[em]— Ron MacDonald[/em][/blockquote] The John Lecky House was built in the 1920s, and with little renovation done since then retains much of its original character. It's owned by the people who run the car dealership D. Alex MacDonald.[/p]"It's just getting to be an eyesore, and it needs a lot of renovation. We've actually had no plans for the land; we just thought it was getting to be an eyesore for the city," D. Alex MacDonald manager Ron MacDonald told CBC News Tuesday. MacDonald said if someone is willing to move the house, they are welcome to it.[/p][/p]

There's one for sale in my neighbourhood as well.
Oldest house in the city- $1 if you want to take it.

P.C. might want it back in the woods.  I'll send her the info.

lol.....I always dream of putting in a little guest house back there.....but it would have to be built there.  I would have to cut down too many trees to move a whole house in.  The poor little house has been stripped of all things heritage.  There is no trim or wainscott or fixtures and is in sad sad shape.  (although I love the challenge of a fixer-upper).

There were two heritage homes in New West where I used to live for a buck too.  One guy purchased it and moved it a bit further down the same street to the empty lot.  It was really cool seeing the house being raised up....too bad I couldn't see it on the streets to take some pics.

I wish the story was a little more specific as to the location of that home.  I can't even think of where there are oyster farms 'north' of Nanaimo.....unless they are talking about Union Bay ?

The home will sit on the beachfront overlooking some of B.C.'s world-famous oyster farms, she said. The O'Farrells hope to spend their 25th anniversary in the summer home by the end of July.

Who knows.
Ah Found it!

Fanny Bay
G&M story gave away the location.

That was my first thought.

I always find it funny that anything in the news about the Island is reported as if there were only 3 cities here.  Victoria, Nanaimo and Port Alberni.....nothing else exists.  Fanny Bay is nowhere even close to Nanaimo.  It's closer to Courtenay by miles and miles and miles.

I noticed that too. Probably just lazy reporting and people thinking they wouldn't know where the places are so you say North of Nanaimo. etc. Plus Courtenay area is still small and unknown for the most part. It's a fast growing area but in terms of name recognition, it's not there yet.

That's true....I'm sure it isn't instantly recognizable by many.....but neither are a million other places that come up in the news.   It's a bit of a nuisance, when they report something that is happening 'on the Island'.......like it's 10 blocks square or something.....lol

Well because you know "on the island" means it happened "on the island". It's worse amongst friends of a friend. They're convinced we went to UVic as there's on Victoria on the island and that's it. lol
