Okay Hillary, lol. Quoting Obama "I renounce and denounce."
I'm half way there anyway. I've lost the three pillars of Americanhood.
1) Patriotism
2) Nationalism
3) 'American Dream'
4) Religious identification
That's the joke, you know 'the third rail in politics'. Well the unspoken 4th pillar is religious identification.
I'm more like the framers, in the 'r' thinking. Taking a cue from Carlin the "professional Christians" (Lou Dobson, Pat Robertson etc) think the framers created a Christian Nation in the glory of God that will last forever. Seriously, I get emails about the 'Christian' meaning on top of the Washington Monument. etc.
This is a trick thread......food masking another political platform.
I hate lima beans.
I don't hate food. In fact I like everything. I'm not picky, simple to please.
Although I don't understand Okra, especially fried. This is where I question Southern Culture. Fried Okra, fried green beans etc.
I love pea soup.

'bless'!
lol....back atcha Russ.
I hate gelatin too.
I don't like cilantro either.....but I'm SURE that's a direct result of being raised in a Conservative Catholic, Right wing, left of center, suburban family. (//vny!://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/Happy/12.gif)

lol what's that ? An anti-food plot ? ah ah !
Down with Tofu !
You get a 'bless' too! Did you know that theres no meat in Tofu? And that people actually put that stuff in their mouth?
I hold no qualms.
Michel wrote:
I know I know ! It's terrible.
When I was younger I had to drive the bus through one snob neibourghood once and I shouted toward the people on the street f*cking Tofu eaters ! lol that was fun, but my friend was really shy after that. Me I just couldn't stop laughing ah ah !
Sadly I have to admit that I eat some tiny square of Tofu in Miso soup since I moved to Vancouver.
So small it taste nothing fortunately.[/DIV]
I actually forgot about it being in Miso soup. I like Miso soup. lol
This list looks like something a kid would write.
It's from AOL.
I'm sure it is. But they all sound like answers from kids!
Surely adults eat tuna, maple syrup, blueberries and mayo!
Yeah the 'comments' AOL uses to justify this list is hysterical.
I'm surprised anchovies and blue cheese didn't make the list.
(people either love 'em or hate 'em. I love 'em)
A lot of people who "don't like vegetables" will eat the frozen peas n carrots mixture.
I'm sure you've eaten a lot of cilantro without realizing it. It's in so many Asian and central American dishes.

No salad for Skeptic Cat?
The act of steaming a vegetable must remove its evil properties.

Pea soup is on the list??
Guess they never tried the real thing? Sad.
Hey okra is wonderful!!! With all its ickiness and slimness, it's da bomb!
I hate gelatine too. Animal congealing fats..... yuck. We avoid gelatine if we can help it because it comes mostly from pig. Which means NO to marshmallows, some yogurts, some ganola bars, cheesecakes, cakes with mousse - the list is endless. You wouldn't think that gelatine goes into them but they sadly they do.
Gelatin in cheesecake ? I can't even imagine why the need for gelatin in cheesecake. None of my recipes call for it, so that must be store-bought stuff ?
The cheesecake I eat has jello powder in it. It's one of the jello "no bake" cheesecakes.
Unfortunately, the real cheesecake has egg in it, so I can't go there.
Weird, my great, wonderful, awesome, American, parochial education told me Gelatin was from Horses. lol
^We need more Americans on DS to call your BS.
sardines are not on the list. Many ppl I know hate sardines. It's another "hate" or "love" relationship.

Seriously, that was a sarcastic joke.

I KNOW how much you hate sardines :)
Im glad you are a convert on this :) :)
Herring power!
That's the thing with gelatin, you don't know what part of the animal it's from. It is usually from pigs (the cheapest) and cows. Not usually horses but then again you never know. Kosher gelatin usually come from fish so we can eat them. We don't eat it because of the associated risk with pigs.
Lil Me is right about the no baked cheesecake. More often than not we find gelatin in them but we can't afford the luxury of eating a baked cheesecake either. The only time we eat cheesecake is if I baked them from scratch.
Wow, didn't know this, there's such a thing about baked cheese cake?
Real cheese cake (baked) = whipped cream
Mock cheese cake (not baked) = Cool Whip (//vny!://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/Happy/12.gif)
There are pig risks ?
Cheesecake is my fav! The real thing, not the fake stuff.
Plain cheesecake with strawberries on top.
Anyone been to Cheesecake Cafe in Alberta? Now that is an awesome place! Lethbridge, Edmonton or Calgary.
I'm not a fan of the fake stuff either. Never been to the cheesecake place in Alberta. Good ?
There is a place here that makes little mini-cheesecakes. The place is called Poppers.....a division of Cheesecake 101 in Campbell River. VERY good authentic cheesecake.
Cheesecake cafe is so good. I have had homemade cake, but this place brings it to the next level.
[A href="vny!://www.cheesecakecafe.ca/default.html"]vny!://www.cheesecakecafe.ca/default.html[/A]
Perfect place to just go for a coffee and dessert. Probably 2 hours after supper.
Oh, Van. I had completely forgotten about The Cheesecake Cafe. Yum. The menu goes on for pages...and pages...There used to be one in downtown Vic, but I think it's gone now.
How about Uncle Albert's Pancake House and Perkins.
Just the risk of eating pigs for us, that's all. Doesn't mean you'd get infection from it just if you don't want to risk offending your religion. That's all.
All this talk about cheesecake is making me crazy! I gotta eat one now.... maybe bake one soon.
I think I've heard of that place PC. There's a cheesecake place in Kits and they make mini ones. I think it's called Cheesecake 101 but can't be for sure. They are SO delicious.
In Seattle, there's that Cheesecake place. (can't remember the name).
I'm with you on plain cheesecake with strawberries, Van. yummeee.... LUV cheesecake...
Russ - want a piece of cheesecake? (//forums/richedit/smileys/Teasing/4.gif) I know you just luuuuv it too.
I wouldn't mind Curtis Stone baking me a cheesecake at the comfort of my own home.
Enough talk of cheese cake.
Well...ok....just a little bit more. I'm with Van on the 'plain' cheesecake. I prefer the good ol New York cheesecake. A little cherry pie filling on top and I'm happpppy.
purelife....I don't know if I should say this out loud, but I don't think Russ DOES like cheesecake.(//vny!://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/Shocked/1.gif)
Oh, I know Russ doesn't like cheesecake (and sardines) but I just gotta bug him. :)
LOL. I actually didn't know this, so guess what I served when they were here for dinner. Yup.....cheesecake. And they were so polite, they ate it.(//vny!://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/10.gif)
LOL that's too funny. I bet Russ sneaked some on StarFishie's plate when you and Sawdust weren't looking...
but I'm sure he loves your cheesecake compared to store bought ones. :)
You don't like cheesecake either Michel ?
Whatever you do, don't get Brunswick Michel. They're cheap, but they're gross. They'll turn you off for sure.
The country market here that I go to has sardines in a round can. I think they are call Riga Sprats (?) They are smoked sardines and have a lovely flavour.
Ha ! I just looked them up and I found them. They are Riga Sprats.

What ever are you talking of PC and PL? I absolutely adore cheesecake and sardines.. they taste like something my dog would love!
Miss PL is correct however.. the cheesecake that PC had WAS better than what I remember cheesecake being.. however cheese and cake Im sure is illegal in one of those wonderful ex CCCP countries.
Im more suceptible (sp?) to eating sardines if they are in tomato sauce then if they are in oil.
You are correct on the sardines Michel.. they are bigger and sweeter here. Although theres lots less then there used to be when I was younger fishing.. sad really.
lol Russ. Well you were a very brave boy to eat something you don't like....I wish I could be as gracious. I would have to come up with a ludicrous story so that I could leave, if I saw zucchini on my plate....I just couldn't do it. I have a friend who plays this game of hiding things she knows you don't like, in a recipe. Then she waits. Then when the time is right, and you mention that you don't like something.....like....say zucchini.....she'll pounce. "Well you didn't seem to mind it when you had it the way I cooked it" she'll say. LOL
*Michel.....try the Cloverleaf brand. Reasonable price and yummy and tender.
I'm with PC there. Cloverleaf is definitely the way to go though it took me a long time to actually bite into one because I'm not used to seeing a whole fish in a can before. (//vny!://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/Happy/12.gif)
I guess you don't like fried zuchinni then, PC? Or zuchinni and walnut muffins?
You know what I enjoy doing? Getting people loving foods they haven't tried. For example, I introduced Starbucks fraps, pho, cheesecake, tuxedo cake etc and he loves them! It's difficult to get him eating sardines though....
I can't eat sardines out of a can like oysters. But I like sardines on my pizza! *SLURRP*
I eat my sardines out of the can in front of the sink in case I drip. yummeee...
You like sardines for real, Van? You are one of the few on here who likes 'em naked.
I like 'em naked as well - incidentally I've just scoffed a tin of mackerels.
I like em nekkid too.....and I just had me some sardines. Out of the can, and not over the sink. I feel Wreckless. (//vny!://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/Happy/12.gif)
No doubt you're thinking of Wreck Beach again. Don't you mean reckless?
Yes.....nekkid and Wreck Beach go hand in hand....no?(//vny!://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/Happy/12.gif)
Truth be known, I misspelled. I actually wrote reckless first, then I 'corrected' myself. I feel so common.
wreckless

I am not sure if they are naked when they are smothered in cheese on a pizza? But they are yummy. Of course with mushrooms too.
I don't think I've had sardines on pizza before. Are they in bits or are they whole?
There's something definitely wrong when you put sardines on pizza!!! I mean, ye gods!!! (//vny!://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/Shocked/5.gif)
There's something definitely wrong when you put sardines on pizza!!! I mean, ye gods!!!
Not sure I've tried that either Lise....but I love smoked oysters on my pizza, so it's not a real stretch.
Is it true what they say about oysters?
The eck, omg disgusting, fish on pizza growing up as a kid was always anchovies.
Is it true what they say about oysters?
Yes. They have NO scruples.

So do I, Van. They're terrific if you get a tin of them in tomato sauce and then just empty them out on top of everything else that's on the pizza.
