Title: Minor League Pitcher Traded for 10 Bats
Post by: Lil Me on May 26 08 09:59
Poor Guy :(
 [/p]
McALLEN, Texas - During three years in the low minors, John Odom never really made a name for himself until he got traded for a bunch of bats.[/p]  "I don't really care," he said Friday. "It'll make a better story if I make it to the big leagues."[/p]  For now, Odom is headed to the Laredo Broncos of the United League. They got him Tuesday from the Calgary Vipers of the Golden Baseball League for a most unlikely price: 10 Prairie Sticks Maple Bats, double-dipped black, 34-inch, C243 style.

"They just wanted some bats, good bats - maple bats," Broncos general manager Jose Melendez said. According to the Prairie Sticks Web site, their maple bats retail for $69 each, discounted to $65.50 for purchases of six to 11 bats.[/p] Full Story:

Ah. Interesting. My dad wondered where the name came from all I could think of is Trois-Riveries. So I was stumped.
But yeah the beer pubs here in the area have it (The ones that specialize in Internationalism) and then the mom and pop liquer stores that pride themselves in International products have it. It's not big enough yet to get into the grocery stores here, but knowing how vast the beer selection is at the grocery stores, it soon will be probably.

It's weird, if they go off the beaten path in Canadian beers here past the (Molson, Labbatt, Moosehead) you might run into Sleeman's but most of the beers I've seen are from Quebec or have some ties to French Canada. I've never been able to figure this out. I'm almost certain this has nothing to do with the Quebec ties to this region as the vast majority folks don't know that their town are french. Somebody thought it was cool, named a subdivision La Pomme de Terre or that the fleur-de-lis is the official flag and symbol of the area. People are clueless about this. So I'm still confused whilst I go to a place on Chateau near Lacleade's in Soulard during Mardi Gras. lol

I knew how to pronounce the Pistoles. I just got caught up with the brand name. Beer girl was like 'everyone says Unibrew'.

Well for me it was an awesome taste because it doesn't taste like 'beer' dark or lager form.
I've had other beers that want to be micro-ish in tasting but they all come off wrong (flat tire comes to mind, tastes like Vanilla ice cream to me)

There's a sub-division called the potato ?  (//vny!://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/Happy/4.gif)   It sounds much classier in French.....but a potato is still a potato.

Yeah I threw papers on my old route 4 years ago in La Pomme da Terre which is a McManison  neighbourhood off a french named street. So ironically the name fits the book there. Heck I shouldn't be complaining my street name is french as well. lol

Its typical sprawl, build homes on a farm or something and name the streets to pay homage to what was once growing where your house is. lol

Haha no. More like Cherry Hills subdivision have a house where beautiful cherry tree's once stood.
Basically its tear down a beautiful place, put in a parking lot full of polluting cars and then call the strip mall something that reminds people of what once was there that you are now standing on. Suppose to help easy the mind about some place to long for when what the name is implying was actually there, but we torn it down for a walmart.

I'm drinking the LAST bottle of tractor fuel in the house.  I'd been hiding it and saving it.  But I gave in.
 It's a Warsteiner.

Oh god speaking of rural folks Marry a Farmer or Date a Farmer is on CW right now. Such a sham takes place in the St. Louis metro area they had to make it stereotypical rural since rural this area means something like Mission or outskirts of Abbotsford. lol
