Has anybody done it? How do you train for these things, I've decided I want to run the 10k for '09.

It's not my cup of tea. Too many ppl, not enough room to run. If you're serious into running, I suggest you opt for earlier run for the more able athletes.

Start slow, build on your stamina. If your local community gym offers it, you might want to try and join the Sun Run training. I know Bonsor Community Centre offers it for ppl who are interested in training.

We had a Sun Run BBQ for faculty, staff and students. Yummy-licious burger. All in all, 66 members will be doing the run. Yours truly is NOWHERE near the team spirit but will chow down on any free burger. (//vny!://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/Happy/12.gif)

I'd go if it was a Sun Cycle, but what the heck we have Critical Mass once a month!  Running is way too hard on the human body, unless you are the weight of a caveman, running barefoot on natural surfaces.  One of my goals in life is to not have knee surgery.

yeah its hard on my body too, but I'm young I don't care, doctor told me regardless of what I do I'll eventually have to get the knees replaced. lol

Although running on soft surfaces don't hurt as much or at all.

Running would just wreck my knees. Biking is way smoother.
