Title: Set-up code for TV
Post by: P.C. on Apr 14 08 11:20
Anybody have any idea how one can 'figure out' or find out the code required to set up a TV.  We have lost the manual.  We contacted the company, and all they sent back was an explanation of their warranty policy. (thanks)

We have never used this tv since it was new, although it is now over a year old.  All we can get out of it is the menu which tells you to put in a 4 digit password code. (????)

It's a cheapo TV I won at a staff party, called Diamond Vision.  It's a piece of garbage really, but thought it would be nice to have it hooked up in the guest room.

I have this booklet that has a bunch of 4-digit codes for many makes.  I wonder if this one is in it and I also wonder if this 4-digit code is the correct one.

Uhm, I have to look for this book because I have no clue where its.  But, I'll try to find it PC if no one here can help.

That would be great purelife.  It sounds like it's a pretty common problem with this particular TV, as there are forums all over the place on this subject.  Most posts are either unanswered, or giving codes to program a universal remote. (I think Diamond Vision is a Mitsubishi)

I just hope we didn't throw it away during our move.

Have you tried calling your cable provider?  They may be able to direct you or help you.  Or, try calling the manufacturer again?  You may get a different response.

Stuff like that makes me mental.....and I can't quit.  I drive myself crazy (and others as well I'm sure).

I had to give it one last try, or it was going to the Salvation Army tomorrow.  I farted around with that thing almost all day....lol

Well actually hub emailed them a month or so ago....and they really were zero help.   I emailed them again today, and she sent me back a universal code.  I put that in....and it brought up another menu option that I wasn't getting before.....to change the password.  So I did....still nothing.  A little more farting around....and voila....a picture !!!! (finally)

Good for you! You know, you can always surf the net for the manual. Like we lost the manual for our home security alarm and I surfed the net and came up with it. Just google the name and brand number then type in manual. Our instructions came in a PDF format with pictures and all. Verrry handy.

Thanks Lise.  That was the first thing we did.  It's not out there.  All we DID learn, is that the problem we had was not unique to this brand.  The strange thing is, we went to a store that sold the same TV and asked if they could 'un-package' one so we could have a look at the manual.  He was very nice and helpful....but the code we were looking for was not in the manual either.  Weird.

Anyways, it's up and running now. (//vny!://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/Happy/12.gif) [/DIV]
