Michel, try using Ufile.ca.  I prepare all my taxes (and others) using this.

I find Ufile simple to use and you can file electronically and get your refund (if applicable) within 10 business days.  You don't have to send any paperwork in either, just keep them on file for 7 years.  (I honestly would keep them forever, just in case).

If you need help, let me know.

I use quicktax online.

But if you don't want to do it yourself, all the places in the mall are pretty good.  H&R block, etc.  Usually about $100.  Better to pay someone and file right away, get your refund back.

When you claim your moving expenses on Ufile (or perhaps QuickTax), it automatically generates the appropriate forms.

I had RRSP's and that always require another Schedule or whatever form attached to the basic form.  Ufile was able to just take the numbers I had an plunked them in this schedule automatically.  It was such a lifesaver.

Try Ufile or Quick Tax and if those don't work well for you, check out the tax places in the mall, like LM suggested.  Some church organization offer tax help for cheap too.  Oh, and you could check ads in your local paper.

purelife!  I was about to say the same thing!  quicktax prompts you to enter the receipts and it fills in the forms for your moving expenses.

Also, I *think* that your province "of residence" is where you lived on dec 31 2007.  It doesn't matter where you worked during the year.  So you will pay provincial taxes in B.C. at the B.C. rates only.  That simplifies things a lot.

If you're getting money back, you don't need to file by Apr 30.  You can take your time if you are too busy this month.

Great minds think alike, LM. ;)

The only thing about ufile is that it checks your computer to make sure it's compatible with the software.  If not, you may have to revise your settings or download something.  Uhm, that part I can't hep you with.  But I can help you with Ufile itself as I've used it for two years now and will continue.

ADD:  oh, another cool thing about Ufile is its built-in HELP function.  There's a nice question mark link that will take you to a help page.

Maybe it's best to get drunk first. You'll still make a mess of everything, but at least you'll do it enjoyably.

speaking of taxes I'm surprised the U.S. government hasn't tracked me down yet. Then again George isn't the brightest. Rogers will find me before the feds do, that's for sure lol.

There's always the CCRA help phone.  I've called them a few times.  I believe they are open 24hrs a day in April.

Michel- do you do your taxes and forms in French or English?  Just wondering.

Makes sense that you would do your taxes in French.
Do you choose French for your phone calls to banks, government, etc?
