I was listening to the radio station this morning where the hosts were talking about a guy who got divorced and met this lady whom he thought "clicked" with. Well, one day, they were out somewhere, he said to her "You have a nice hour glass figure" Well, she took offense to it and never called him again.
Yikes!
I guess some girls are really touchy about a guy commenting on their figure. He thought it was a compliment.
Your thoughts?
sounds like a compliment.
Too bad she didn't give him a chance to explain. b*tch!
Depends on the way he said it.
In my experience it's best to compliment without using common terms like 'hour glass figure' that can be taken wrong...obviously!
My thoughts exactly, LM.
The host on the radio said that he wouldn't even comment if the girl lost weight. He thinks that it's better not to mention anything at all.
Well, at least he found out she was like that before he got anymore attached or it proceeded any further.
Next
I wonder if the girl was insulted because a lot of trends are skinny today (Paris Hilton) not the classic beauty with curves.
You mean an hour glass figure with the sand run out?
It sounds like that. I think she thought he was referencing how big she is or something. I think it's a compliment to hear that.

I agree with PL's hypothesis... it seems to me that this is more than likely the case. She has no idea what hourglass figure means.
I remember a thread on DV where the guy wanted advice on how to tell his wife to lose weight. OMG, did he get flamed!
Would you ever tell your partner to lose weight? Is it really safe for guys to say to the girl "hey, you're getting bigger, could ya lose some weight?"
And of course, every girl's reaction is different.
I remember that thread! I was talking about it last week sometime too.
Im of the opinion it doesnt matter. I talked about something like this, saying that to me it doesnt matter but it would it bother her? Other than she would feel funny, she wouldnt care either.
weird, hour glass usually means good. lol
Oh cool! (that you remember that thread) It was rather amusing and didn't he end up posting pics or something? LOL!
I sport the hour and a half model. (//vny!://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/Happy/12.gif) I gotta kill some time before things get out of hand.
She probably would have been more PO'd if he said she had a pear figure??! (//vny!://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/Thinking/1.gif)
No....doesn't sound like a good plan at all Van....lol
Hmmm, I am single these days!? Odd...(//vny!://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/Teasing/13.gif)
pear shape still sounds better than watermelon shape.

Personally, I would prefer not to be compared to anything produce-like.

OK....except carrots.
Hour glass figure to me means a very tiny waist
That's it 49er. I think it also implies that there is an 'offset' or contrast of proportions on top and bottom as well. I tiny waist with no boobs and no bum would not be an hourglass.
The perfect hourglass figure IMHO

I wouldn't call her typically hour glass.........she's more the "healthy" type
Dolly Parton......now she's the hour glass type
So, that's how Zena the Warrier princess looks like?!!
Aaaaa....not even close Miss purelife. Well....sometimes. In the pitch black darkness of a room without mirrors or eyes...THAT'S what I look like. [/DIV]
hmm that girl you posted p.c. probably has a beer gut from way too many sorority parties. so much air brush that figure is not real. lol
You're bursting her bubble, SD.. ssshhh! (//forums/richedit/smileys/Teasing/12.gif)
Here are some natural looking girls from teh Dove campaign.
(//vny!://inventorspot.com/files/images/DoveGirls2.img_assist_custom.jpg)
finally normal looking women.
And very nice too! A little upholstery goes a long way.
Gawd. Some women are too sensitive. If I had an hour glass figure and someone said that to me, I wouldn't take that as an insult but a compliment. A woman should be proud of her figure no matter what.
Skinny women are definitely NOT sexy. You only have to look at Paris Hilton and Kate Moss. Ugh, talk about walking skeletons.
A plump woman is sexxxy. She reminds me of the mother goddess. Like my co-worker who is heavily pregnant now. She's just a walking sex-pot though she refused to believe me. LOL. (//vny!://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/Happy/12.gif)

If this is a sorority beer belly then call me the Alpha Dog!
All I can say is, if that's a beer belly, then pass me the keg. I'm apparently on the wrong fitness path.
