If I cared, this would be tragic news. But I don't, so screw it.

Following the lowest-rated Emmys since 1990, the strike-hindered ratings performance of a severely truncated version of the Golden Globes and a nonstruck airing of the Grammys that nonetheless disappointed, Sunday night's presentation of the 80th Annual Academy Awards on ABC hit an all-time ratings low.[br clear="none"] [br clear="none"] According to overnight fast national ratings, the awards averaged a 10.7 rating among adults 18 to 49 and was seen by 32 million viewers. In the demo, that's down a sharp 24% from last year and the lowest on record. Among viewers, that's a 20% drop. The previous all-time low was in 2003.

Nope, I don't really care about the Oscars but at least Daniel Day Lewis won something. He deserved it.
it was a yawner.
lol, i still remember when this was an actual "event".
I actually watched it, which is weird, because there was only ONE movie that I've actually seen. And no.....I'm not going to say which one it was.....well....let's just say there were penguins involved.
lol you saw the animated surfing pengiuns? lol
i saw 3 of the films Into the Wild, Sweney Todd, Juno and been wanting to see There Will Be Blood for a while now. No country doesn't interest me. Only Cohen movie I liked was O, Brother.
There's so much crap out there, but that one appeals to me too Michel. It could describe me as well...except that I don't have $24,000 to give away.(//vny!://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/Shocked/6.gif)
everybody who saw the film said the same thing to me. Then I have to listen to "why are you in canada" or what are you running away from etc.
there's that kind of element to the film besides the rich boy wanting to lose his elitist identity.
wow that was so much ??? Jesus christ the guy was totally wacko ! Not surprised he's dead !
THANKS FOR THE SPOILER MICHEL !!!!

lol P.C. didn't know.
Actually knowing he dies in the film before hand, makes you better understand the film, which it did for me.

Oh alright....since you put it that way.
I dont watch the oscars anyhow. Its a bunch of people stroking each other hoping the general populace does too.
I havent heard of or seen most of the movies out now. Starfish and I wanted to go see a movie last night but we didnt like any of the ones out right now. So we went out for dinner then rented Mr Woodcock. I like Billy Bob Thornton for some reason.
OH OH....RUSS....I hate to be the one to give you the heads-up....but this is how it starts. I don't know when I lost touch with movies, but I remember it started something like that. I was going to say it's directly related to maturity...until I remembered that my most recent favourite movies have all been kids movies.

HEY....I already toll ya I'M NOT FROM NANAIMO !!!!!!!
lol. Talked to my aunt yesterday and she was talking about "that surfing penguin movie, one of the best I've seen, great message."
I must say there's two movies I'm excited for about '08. One is WALL-E the robot.

lol, ah those [SPAN style="FONT-WEIGHT: bold; FONT-STYLE: italic; TEXT-DECORATION: underline"]Nanaimo[/SPAN] girls, all the things they'll do to hide that terrible secret. lol
Don't make me come over there Michel !!!
Oh yea. And I wouldn't even GO there except for Costco. And Homesense. And the casino.
But Courtenay will be getting a Costco soon.
ugh courtenay, reminds me of duncan minus the giant hockey stick.
One light to Courtenay. A dozen to Nanaimo.
Courtenay on the whole is NOT a pretty town. Some of the fringe is really nice.....older architecturally beautiful homes. The downtown is also nice....great shopping if you're into getting away from the mall chains.
Courtneys great! I dont find alot of anything there.
I do like Duncan though.. its the midway on my journeys normally, and I stop to eat at a bar there. And I yes I always point and laugh at the Expo Hockey stick there in duncan. It does look worse for wear.
If I was to move to the island I would like to be in like the campbell river or outer nanaimo area. Victoria would drive me crazy.. and although port mcneil and port hardy are nice theres not much there and its always grey up there. But to be realistic it prob wont happen.. Starfishies job is here.
Campbell River is getting nicer every time I see it. I used to think it was a hole, but now I'm quite liking it. They've really done a lot with the place....very 'up-town'. It's really starting to look like the perfect little seaside town that it was always meant to be.
Comox has some really super areas too.....plus the whole area between Courtenay and CR is awesome to me. We looked at a nice place up there a while back....price was reasonable, but figured out that it was because it was close to Saratoga....so I guess it might be a little noisy in the summer?
on the island for me anyway (no perticular order)
Hammond Bay Area-Nanaimo
The greatest little town in British Columbia ;)
Victoria- Fairfield (Beacon Hill), James Bay (i like the idea of looking at the legislative building everyday, my friend says I'd love an Ottawa apartment looking at parliament lol)
Saanich - Cadboro Bay
Oak Bay
Gabriola Island
Ahhhh the Island.
Mr LM and I met in Victoria. We've lived in James Bay and Quadra/Fernwood. I tried to get him to move to Tofino but he said no (too much rain).
really? wow. amazing. I'd take a view looking at a parliament or capitol over an ocean view really.

totally awesome.
bummer on Tofino. You know that display of Tofino at Royal BC? A guide told me that in all the years he'd work there, only one person never liked staring at it for hours. He told me that the guy said "that's my view outside of my backyard, I remember when they came by and took the picture to set up the display at the museum". I was blown away.
Downtown Victoria has a neat vibe. You might end up there, SD- with your education in geography and planning. They had some of the first cycling coalitions, car-share co-ops, barter exchanges... The gov't workers/activists sit in the bar and conjure up new ideas all the time. It's a pretty tight-knit community, with people mainly working in govt/tourism/university or small business.
Sweet, sounds like my kind of place. I do like Victoria a lot.
Do they offer your program at UVic- or just UBC?
UBC
UVic is geared towards "aqua" planning or whatever the heck that is. They're marine intensive. SFU is "environmental" intensive and UBC just has freaking everything. I really don't see the big deal anymore in undergrad at the big schools. Yeah I'll think about it if I get in (which I won't) but I'm getting to involved over here with student stuff.
