Does Sawdust like pomegranate too?
I crave more now.
That DOES look good. Is it a dry mix ?
purelife.....I don't think he dislikes them....yet I have never seen him eat one. I think they're too fussy for him. He's the same with crab. To much fussing around for a nibble, as he puts it. LOL
mmm....your version sounds good.
Well....enjoy !

Hahaha Lil Me. Whatever it takes to gets you through the meeting....even if it causes us to make up new compound words.
I don't think I have ever had a persimmon. How would you describe what a persimmon might taste like, purelife ?
Umm....Michel ? It DOES have no legs.
I am craving for some bacon wrapped steak currently

When it's really ripe, it's kinda sweet, but a dry sweet. It's tough for me to describe how it tastes like. Some people don't like it because there really isn't much of a taste to it. You'll have to try one.
i have a craving for knowledge.
michel you're so old school mahn. meat is ancient history these days. lol
hahahahaha.
The new generation sings for revolution of the cows and the chickens.

There are two types of persimmons. The persimmons that are in the pic are eaten when they are soft otherwise they are very bitter (I think these are called "fuyu" persimmons). There are the flatter shaped type which are eaten hard.......like crunching on a sweet carrot.
Myself, I prefer dried persimmons
Are these the dried persimmons you are referring to 49er? I like 'em too. The other ones are too mushy for me.
(//vny!://www.healthline.com/blogs/kids_nutrition/uploaded_images/persimmons-737485.jpg)
I'm craving mushroom soup and scalloped potatoes.
I like persimmons too. You can actually get them at T&T. They're cheap-ish now.
(//vny!://i38.tinypic.com/2cifb6s.jpg)
Hot sweet soy milk with Chinese crullers. Hmmm..... just the solution for a cold, cold day.

(//vny!://www.healthline.com/blogs/kids_nutrition/uploaded_images/persimmons-737485.jpg) These are the hard variety.
The dried persimmons, I think are dried from the soft variety. They are sold in chinese grocery markets, are coated with a white powder. I usually wash the white powder off before I eat them....here's a pic
(//vny!://i38.tinypic.com/2dkzdk4.jpg)
Oh, I think I had dried ones before. What's the white powdery stuff?
Oh, I've had those dried ones. My mom fed them to us a long time ago. I think I liked them. I had no idea they were persimmons.
I'm not sure if I've had dried persimmons before. Every kind of muey takes the same to me.
I think the white powder is a mixture of salt, sugar and spices.
Muey ? Now what don't I know. What is this Lil Me ?
Those persimmons are really pretty. I'm going to try some.
lol Michel you don't like the Student Union Building. It's where everyone goes its the building of freedom from international capitalists except for the place where you can get Starbucks, that place is run by the university.
It's this genre of dried fruit that's covered in a salt/sugar/spice mixture. Personally, the smell of it makes me feel slightly car sick, because my parents used to bring bags of it on loooong car trips. Just bring on the easy listening music on QMFM and it's a genuine car sickness flashback.
SD- is the SUB cafeteria still there? That was my favourite place to eat for years. (oh, besides The Bay cafeteria and the lunch counter at Woolworth) You got to carry that red tray around and choose your drinks...the milk machine was the best! The choices seemed endless.
Was this on the second floor? (main floor)? Or is it in the basement?
OMG.....now THAT'S a flashback. I remember the Woolworths lunch counter. It used to be next door to Saba Bros. WOW !
Thanks for the explanation Lil Me.
Main floor or basement where the Pit is.
The SUB cafeteria was on the main floor. Then, in the basement there used to be a pasta place around the corner from The Pit.
I LOVED the food at Woolworth's. I wonder if Zellers has anything close. Should I attempt it? Fries, gravy and root beer. How badly could they screw it up?!
Yeah that's still there, it's run by the greedy university. For the Students by the Students profits to the Students is downstairs. The cafeteria you talk about is a blight in the building as its for profit and is only there because the need for the University to get its hand in everything.
Downstairs is
The Honour Roll
The Noodle
Bubble Tea
Sprouts
The Pit
Deli/Bakery
Greek place
When they start building the new building in 2012 to open in 2014, hopefully the place is clean of the filth and its just a place for students free from international capitalism. (That's what the old building, this building was going to be but Student Governments are weak here and bowed to pressure).
lol I'm sounding like the Grad students.
Speaking of Student Governments what the heck is going up on the mountain at SFU. They've allowed Starbucks to invade.
I think I've seen it in drink form.
Always drank the Stalin martini

1. We believe in Democracy
2. We believe in Students
3. We believe in empowerment
4. We believe in community
"We seek a liberation from the dictatorship of the economy over everyday life."
It's a good read. Only problem I have with the group is that they're not all encompassing thus they don't become a true force. They go after the RBF for example mock them for their partying schemes and their one issue: having fun on campus and fighting the police. The two should work together but there's too many loggerheads on both sides and its a shame.
Anyway CASA is a freaking joke. Mysterious Student Union Org made up of Canadian schools who secretly plot behind close doors and never tell you what they're doing.

LOL. A food services contractor is a food services contractor. The university negotiates the contract. More food services revenue means more $$$ in public education. I know this isn't the way things ought to be, but....
The Student Society runs the pub.
ADD: When I was at SFU, my department's student society ran a pop machine in the student lounge that was stocked and sold at pretty much cost ($0.50/can for brand-name Coke products). This was a huge violation of the food services contract between the university and the food contractor, but fortunately noone made a big issue about it.
Has anyone eaten at Zellers? Report...good, bad or ugly?
I am craving my mom's lasagna!!
money to universities doesn't mean education for UBC it means more residential neighbourhoods on campus and construction and upkeep of the flower gardens.
Last year Film Studies died and then was resurrected.
Budgets are being slashed, programmes are in chaos and yet UBC has a surplus. It's not going to the students.
Therefore, university food services are not for the students. The only organization that is for the students is the students themselves. They have no ally in student government, in the Senate, on the board. So its fight to keep what we have, push for something that we should have and then get it in 10yrs after concessions by the trustees.
add:
UBC has the lowest on campus student housing ratio in the country
UBC makes their students pay off campus rent fees (vancouver prices) and not something cheaper
UBC is more concerned with image, building new buildings and their neighbourhoods
UBC isn't concerned about student housing, they rather have villages full of 40-70 year olds on campus in expensive condos as they commute to work in downton. How is this sustainable?
UBC hates UBC Farm
UBC doesn't give their students an actual voice in decision making
UBC has been taken over by the shady CASA organization who do absolutely nothing as a student government.
UBC has the highest ratio of assistant profs in Canada
UBC did its own internal study and it came out that the profs hate the students

I remember eating at a zellers at one point.. it was either on the island or out in Slurry, and the food was your typical thing you would have food at woodwards and such.
Sweet! Next week I'm going to go EAT!!!

[/p]I'm not kidding it was the 'major news story' in the begining of the year.
[/p]UBC hired a Nobel Laureate to better fix the educational experience at UBC. He went around a year interviewing students and profs. He reported his findings to the board and said majority of the profs think little of their students. UBC spent millions to do a study and that came out. lol

haha. Well when I go for vegan lunch, they'll be appalled and horrified that I ate eggs not to long ago.
I think its more of UBC hired intectualls and not actual teachers. I can quiz a department head in one of my subjects that I take a class from him. He'll ignore you and he instead goes on and likes to hear himself talk. He's not actually that bad. There's a couple I've heard about/seen who never ever acknowledge the student.
Most of the tenure's can teach they just talk i.e they're good for those 150 people class sizes. Once you get them in a class of 30, they're clueless. The ones that can teach are the assistant profs. Yet they never get tenure and are usually the hardest working profs usually on campus.

SD, you should take a course in Engineering Economy (it's a requirement in the engineering curriculum). Maybe it will help you understand why institutions/developers do things and go with certain decisions over others
