VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) - Whether you drink it murky and straight from the tap or you take it filtered, there are new concerns today about water containers. One of the most popular refillable bottles has now been pulled from one store's shelves.[/p] Mountain Equipment Co-op will no longer sell the popular Nalgene bottle. That was supposed to be the healthy choice but now we learn it's a product made with bisphenol A, which is a component studies have linked with higher cancer and disease risks.

Me too.
glad my roomie bought a bulk of water, (ironically called "pure life" lol)
or i'd have nothing to drink.
Ok great. All this water I was drinking because it was the healthy choice...
I think I may possibly be losing my mind. I read this (and even quoted it) as 'All this WINTER I was drinking because it was the healthy choice.' I thought the wording was just a tich odd, but as Lil Me is not prone to errors, I re-read it several times.....and THEN responded as if it said 'All winter'. A cheeky response that has rendered itself plain silly, now that I have discovered my error.
Sorry Lil Me.
No worries, P.C. I actually thought your smilies were glugging back some bottles of water!
Well, since the Nalgene is so suspect, maybe wine is the safer option. Comes in a glass bottle, no lead...
Oooh. That's scary. I think some of my co-workers are drinking from that. I'll have to warn them. Thanks for the heads up, Lil Me.
We have tons of these and use them alot.. especially camping. I was actually drinking out of one last night.
me too. Funny thing is, I drink out of them all the time because I was feeling guilty about disposable water bottles. Pls, peeps keep warning me about toxic chemicals leeching out of the disposable bottles when they get heated or frozen (as mine often do in the back of the car).
What's a body to do?
Just drink coffee and wine!!!!
i drink soy.
I'd make my own juice and sauces if I had a blender.
but i'm prone to buying juice out of plastic containers.
I love my Nalgene bottle...I ain't gonna stop using it. I found the perfect one for my workouts...small flip cap... looks like this but the bottle is more tall and narrow AND [span style="color: rgb(255, 0, 255); font-weight: bold;"]PINK[/span]!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :)))

Ill be honest... Im with Purelife on this one. Im going to continue to use my nalgene bottles... EVERYTHING is bad for you.
Yes Yes! That's the one PC! I LOVE mine and ain't giving it up because it took me a loooooooong time finding the best one to fit my needs.
I'm with you too Russ...everything is unhealthy. Sooner or later, I'll die anyways. And besides, there are other things besides water bottles that kill someone sooner or give someone cancer.
I think I agree with you both. If one of the biggest killers is stress.....stressing out about all the things that can kill you doesn't seem really healthy either. Especially since it seems that there isn't much left that can't kill you.
I've gotten to the point that I don't even listen to all that stuff any more. Every day......and I mean EVERY day, they are reporting that something else is bad for you. And when they're not doing that, they're retracting something that they told you was bad for you before....but now it's not. I just can't keep up.
Let's sing Fa la la la la la la la la la, PC. (//vny!://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/Teasing/12.gif)
I'll sing with you, as long as it doesn't kill me. (//vny!://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/Happy/12.gif)
Fa la la la la....la la la la.(//vny!://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/Happy/4.gif)
Can I offer you a drink of water after your singing, P.C.?!
those bottles are indestructable, and maybe even bullet-proof
this thread has turned into a chronic session. lol
Can I offer you a drink of water after your singing, P.C.?!
OK....I'm not a GOOD singer....but that's no reason to try and rub me out.
Well now they've just gone too far.
[A href="vny!://www.checnet.org/healthehouse/education/articles-detail.asp?Main_ID=700"]Lead poisoning from Christmas Lights[/A]
[DIV class=post-header-line-1]
[DIV class="post-body entry-content"] A small inquiry leads, as usual, to a bigger story. Our outdoor christmas tree lights (Bethlehem Lighting commercial grade tangle-free lights) carry a warning label: "Handling the coated electrical wires of this product exposes you to lead, a chemical known to the state of California to cause cancer and birth defects or other reproductive harm". Incidentally, to also cause brain damage in children -- with no known safe exposure level. (Prop 65, which mandates the law, only addresses birth defects, so if lead only caused severe brain damage in children, but not birth defects or cancer, no warning would appear. A political compromise, no doubt.)
Google helped track this down. This was a california story in 2003, but we missed it. The best summary is: [BLOCKQUOTE][A href="vny!://www.checnet.org/healthehouse/education/articles-detail.asp?Main_ID=700"]CHEC Articles: Holiday Lights and Christmas Trees May Contain Lead[/A]
If you've been shopping for holiday lights this season, you may have noticed a warning label on some of them stating that they may contain lead.
... Wire coating and cords are usually made of PVC plastic that may contain lead. Lead is used in PVC for several reasons. For wires and cords, lead makes the plastic more flexible and reduces the risk of fire. Lead is also used in many PVC products to stabilize the color. Lead in PVC products can disintegrate into lead-laced dust.
The labels began appearing on holiday lights, as well as on electronic equipment and cords on other consumer products such as hairdryers, after a number of lawsuits were filed by an environmental advocacy organization in California.
The amount of lead in the lights and other consumer products with warning labels may vary considerably. It is not clear if the amount of lead that is released poses a risk to human health. Some tests show that lead could come off in the hands. Note that nearly all appliance cords are covered with PVC that contains lead.[/BLOCKQUOTE][/DIV]

Can you believe it ????
If it were safe, (and I'm sure it wouldn't be) we need to live in a bubble. I wonder when someone is going to decide that oxygen is bad for us.
*sips water from my Nalgene bottle*
Well, no matter how hungry I am this month, I shall refrain from snacking on my Christmas lights.
As much as I miss Elmo (he always made me smile)....THAT avatar is YOU !!!!
