I'm not a hater...and I'm not a weeper. But I'm sitting here on the edge of tears debating whether to take our PVR and throw it through the front window of the nearest Shaw office. I can't remember feeling as frustrated over something so stupidly simple....or simply stupid.
I have spent over an hour and a half in the last few days on hold. LONG DISTANCE HOLD.
I put aside my morning to await the arrival of the techs once again.....scheduled to be here between 8:00 and 11:00. I suppose it could mean 8:00 am to 11:00 pm. I called the office where hubby went in person yesterday, and after waiting on hold for another 20 minutes....was asked why I called 'this' location.....(a different city than the number I called). What is WITH THESE PEOPLE ????!!!!!!
.....and another thing. Why does their recording say "Thank you for choosing Shaw"
What 'choosing' ?
oh dear.
have you given them the I give up call yet?
You know.....for all the technology we have to facilitate communications, why is it getting harder and harder and harder to communicate ? I curse whoever invented this system.....and all their families and all their robots.
Why don't they just send each of us a mind altering hallucinogenic capsule in the mail each month.....it might make it at least seem normal when we try to contact these people. At least it would make sense, that nothing makes sense.
you the saying the more things change the more they say the same?
No matter how good our technology gets in communication, we will still have problems communicating!

Hey PC.. I feel your pain.
I detest Shaw.. but I was overuled when we switched from Telus to Shaw.
Theres a problem with their long distance calling at my house as well. No one from there can call my local cell number I have here. But from a Telus Line Starfish can call me. So a complaint was made and they said give us two days and we will fix it then call you. its been a week and no one has called my place from Shaw.

Oh Hi Russ. Sorry you caught me in the middle of a tantrum.
I tell ya, it's beyond me how these companies can survive and thrive when run with such absolute ineptness.[/DIV]
well there only other competition is the satelite reciever that beams up into space, but then gets messed up when it rains...
Well that sounds perfect for a place that rains 10 months of the year. Mind you when I think about it, it would probably be the most efficient choice.
LOL. Heya PC! Hows things?
Shaw and the other big companies know theres not much else and they are all like that now.
EDIT: Jeebus people.. slow down with teh posting! The connection Im on isnt that fast
Oh dear...
Oh, I'm close to Shaw's HQ... I can throw that for ya. ;)
Bless yer heart purelife. Thank you.
Sorry to hear that, PC. Can you email them or something?
Shaw's been down lately. I cannot email a couple of friends who has Shaw email addy. My email bounced back so they may be experiencing techinical difficulties across BC. That's still no excuse not to get back to you soon.
OK.....I have to eat some of my words.
The guy that just came out to fix our problem was amazing. He really seemed to have a good understanding of what he was dealing with....and how to deal with it. He explained everything he did as he was doing it.....why we were having the problems we are...etc. He was thorough...checking all possible solutions....the box outside...up the pole on the street, behind the TV with the spider webs.
Hey P.C.! Is your tv fixed?
Just wondering if Mr Saw is listening to hockey like we are, or if he can watch it in full colour?
what a route
No Lil Me....they did not correct the problem. The picture is ok.....it's the sound that keeps 'skipping'. They will be bringing ANOTHER PVR on Wednesday. Amazingly enough he is not watching hockey.....he is watching Crash Science.
yeah who wants to watch the hockey massacre. I'm waiting for F1 qualifying on TSN.
Watched the first period and had enough, don't need the headache on top of the headache I already have. lol
Do you think it's serious SD ?
yes very, I need a lobotomy. This head doesn't feel right, need a new one, pronto.
So, another cable boy out here today.
Why can't they just say.....We have no idea what is wrong. We haven't got a clue. We intend to charge you for full service, regardless of the compromised service you have received this last month...because we can.
I think I might have more respect for this. Each one has contradicted the last. Each one has claimed that the cause is 'loose' connections on the back of the digital box ......each one tightened them.....the problem persists. Each one has suggested that it is getting a poor signal......each one has checked it, with a different result......and showed me the results on their 'Signal Checker Outer'.....which means nadda to me.
Waaaaaaaaaaa !
That's Shaw policy...to deny. A few times I got an older tech for my internet to come in and he was brutally honest but of course, head office disagreed with him. I knew he was telling the truth. He was probably a shop steward or something with Shaw who wasnt afraid to say it like it is. However, I doubt Telus is better, probably worse.
I think the frustration begins with their lack of accessibility. I should not have had to spend hours selecting options from a menu and sitting on hold LONG DISTANCE. (or sitting on hold that long period). Telus is worse. For a communications company.....they have a lot to learn about communicating with their customers.
I always get a chuckle out of the term 'service call'.
(I still have to give kudos to the one fellow who came out. He wasn't from our area, but was dragged out here to cover one of their screw-ups. He was knowledgeable and personable. A rarity in these industries these days)
The ultimate frustration is that I will be expected to pay full price for less than full service.
They will adjust your bill for the days you were "without service" if you ask :)
Really ?
They were totally unwilling to adjust my bill for a pay per view movie I didn't order.
Perhaps I'll give it a try.
Thanks Lil Me.
Can't hurt to ask :)
