A Saudi man divorced his wife for watching alone a television programme presented by a male, an act he deemed immoral, the Al Shams newspaper reported on Saturday.
The man, whom the paper did not identify, ended his marriage on the grounds his wife was effectively alone with an unrelated man, which is forbidden under the strict Islamic law enforced in the ultra-conservative kingdom, the paper said.
Men in Saudi Arabia have the authority to divorce their wives without resort to the courts.

That's part of what Bruce Allen was ranting about. People from other countries trying to change Canada's laws to suit them. Sharia law, that includes those sort of things where men can beat their wives or divorce them for whatever, came very close to becoming legal in Ontario. It still could become legal in the future, as well across Canada, if certain people are elected that support sharia law or are stupidly ignorant about it like that Boyd woman.
That's scary enough as it is, but Muslims to have other religions to thank for opening the door to bringing sharia law to Canada, and it is only a matter of time before sharia law is commonplace across Canada like Jewish, Christian, and First Nations laws are used as arbitration (a fancy word for not having to build more courtrooms or hire more judges) for many "soft crime" and domestic disputes . Why civil society would agree to religious arbitration -- Muslim, Jewish, Christian, or anything else -- in the first place? What's wrong with one law for everyone in Canada? Ugh.
