A family dog, Rottweiller, held a black bear at bay while four kids were stuck up in their treehouse when a bear wandered into their yard in British Properties. [A href="vny!://www.virtualvancouver.com/news/news-54.html"]Full news story[/A]. The bear was trying to get to the family's plum tree. In the end the bear got some plums and then left after being scared off by the dog and the kid's mom.
That is one great dog... wish I had a brave and courageous dog like that.
Poor bear, must be hungry and have to eat as much as possible to pass through winter. And what he founds ? Suburbs... (//vny!://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/Sad/11.gif)
That's what I always think when I hear these stories too Michel. (//vny!://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/Sad/9.gif)
Too much humans ! We will not leave any wildlife for our kids.
yeah like what are raccoons suppose to eat again?
I don't think there's too much humans.....I think there's humans that want too much.
nobody cares about open spaces. Won't be too much longer most of the Eastern US will look like Europe no open spaces.
I don't think there's too much humans.....I think there's humans that want too much.
Yes you're right comrade, I'm so ashamed

That should probably re-name the dog to Killer and not Pee Weenie. Gee, if a black bear were to come up to us, our dog would probably run under my skirt, the little coward. (but bless his wee heart)
In my next life I wanna be a dog...
I think a cat would be fine too.

Love that pic. Black bears have a bad reputation that is exagerated.
I always say, when nature is out of balance, you can be sure 'man' has had it's hand in it somewhere along the line.

is a black bear !
Black bears may have a bad reputation, but I still wouldn't be all alone in the woods hiking and get too close to black bear. They're still wild animals. I try to avoid all bears, cougars and coyotes when I'm hiking. I'll stick to getting close to chipmunks and squirrels.
lol
You're right Hobbit, you never know.
