Title: PNE Now open
Post by: Hobbit on Aug 22 07 03:33
The [A href="vny!://classifieds3.virtualvancouver.com/8/1/1/4744.html"]PNE[/A] is now open, is anyone going this year? I sure could go for some of those tasty mini donuts... everytime I think of PNE, I think of doh-nuts... must be the Homer in me.

who knows, there was only exhibition that I kind of want to see there, and only if it was for free and I had nothing else to do. Now that I know that the entrance cost something, problem solved...

Nope, not this year.  I went last year on opening day when it was free but it didn't amaze me.  It's wayyyyy too expensive.

I'd go for the food and shows if I wasn't so claustrophobic in crowds.

EDIT:  I'll probably go to Playland in Sept (after the PNE is done) and to the track before the end of racing season, but can't handle the PNE anymore.  *sigh* Getting old.

yeah I used to be an amuesment park fan, now I have no desire to go on rides. The Ninja which was the big roller coaster at Expo 86, well it was moved to Saint Louis. They still haven't replaced anything on it from the Expo. I rode it 7 times about 10 years ago and got a concussion. Same for Mr. Freeze. Then I almost blacked out on a roller coaster in Chicago. After that I'd had enough.

I like all roller coasters.  I find the newer ones don't have the thrill of the old wooden one at the PNE.  One of the best.  Others are faster and smoother.....but are so fast that the centrifugal force takes away from the thrill of getting tossed around.

old wooden ones are the best.

o.t.: looking up old expo stuff I read that Plaza of Nations is going to be torn down. Roof too expensive to replace. bummer, cool looking building.

What buffet?

I went there and several boothes are gone from previous years.  It's actually worse in that respect but there are better acts this year.  I guess the rent has gone up as to pay for Tanya Tucker, Pointer Sisters and the Chinese Acrobats.
