The province of Saskatchewan has introduced Family Day as a Public Holiday held on February 19. Albertains get the same deal. We need one too! We need a new statutory holiday in Feb.

personally they should have a holiday each month. And don't tell me a friday off every month is going to hurt business. Nobody does anything on fridays and I mean come on we in North America have the lowest vacation days on average then everybody else. I like the idea.

You know I hate Valetine's Day. Somebody should start a focus group where if your single and lonely on Valetines Day you should all come together and then cry on each others shoulder. Oh wait thats speed dating.

Valentine's Day are for people with fat wallets. OMG, flowers are freaking expensive! And to deliver them to the office or home or whereever your other half is, EXPENSIVE!
Faugh! If there's one damn 'holiday celebration' that should be kicked out the door, it's Valentine's Day. I don't get this holiday. Celebration of love? WTH? One day to jack-up the prices of your dinner menu, flowers, chocolates....... bah humbug.
I don't understand why they make kids give out Valentine cards at school. Talk about marketing scam directed at the wee ones.

I agree that V-day is overated... it gets costly and hard to find a place to have a nice dinner at.
Although statistics say that the sex on that day is exponentially higher than any other day.. wonder why?

So am I the only on who likes Valentines Day. I usually just cook Mr. P.C. an exquisite meal and if I'm working, he'll cook me an exquisite meal. A few pretty paper hearts strewn on the table, a few candles......V-Day dinner. Getting flowers or chocolate or jewellery (over the top) is fine when you're dating, but it doesn't need to be an expensive day. Mind you, I like any excuse to do something fussy.
Romance is nice.
I just hate the consumerism and arbitrary semi-religious nature of the holiday.
Plus, like someone already said, it sucks to be single on V day :(
I suppose tenkani. I guess I never thought of it that way. I don't recall being bummed out on valentines day when I was single......I also can barely remember being single.
I found it ok to be single on V day.. cause you go out to a house party you invite yourself to through a friend and you arent single at the end of the night. Always fair.
I do like valentines day... its a great chance to enjoy another person and spend time with them.
