Title: Diebold: The Gang That Couldn't Do Anything Straight
Post by: TehBorken on Jan 25 07 04:52
Christ, what a bunch of idiots. Who's running Diebold, Larry, Moe, and Curly??[hr style="width: 100%; height: 2px;"]Yet again, Diebold has shown their [a href="vny!://www.bradblog.com/?p=4066#more-4066"]security prowess[/a]. This time they posted, on their website, a picture of the actual key used to open all of their Diebold voting machines. (That's right- one key opens ALL the voting machines!)

Ross Kinard of Sploitcast crafted three keys based on nothing more than the photo. Amazingly enough, two of the three keys [a  href="vny!://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UfGvSJA20-Y&eurl="]successfully opened[/a] one of the voting machines.

But fear not, Diebold has [a href="vny!://news.com.com/2061-10796_3-6153328.html"]removed the offending picture[/a], replacing it with a picture of their digital card key.  Take that, hackers!

Diebold makes the voting machines that are widely used in the US. Their security has been blown a hundred times, they're super easy to spoof, fool, and outright cheat, so you can make the vote come out any way you want (like in 2000 and 2004).

Diebold cleverly made it so one key fits ALL the machines (very poor security design) and then they posted a picture of the actual key on their website. Some guy took the photo off their website and made a working key from the photo (!!!), proving that once again that these machines cannot be trusted for voting.

Yup every state is going electronic I voted electronicly last time it was easy peasy but I think these are different kind of machines then the ones I used.  Your vote was printed an a reciept and I saw who I voted for and such but the dumb things did break down a lot.
