Title: Another ridiculous thing
Post by: TehBorken on Jan 13 07 02:14
This is completely insane. She could have murdered one of these kids and faced less time!!! And isn't the school at fault too, for letting the license on the anti-spyware app expire? This is NUTS.

Norwich, Conn seventh grade teacher, Julie Amero has been convicted of four counts of [a href="vny!://www.norwichbulletin.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070106/NEWS01/701060312/1002/NEWS17"]risk of injury to a minor[/a] after her classroom PC displayed pornographic pop-ups in class. While an expert for the defendant said he had discovered spyware on her PC that had been downloaded from a hairstyling site, the local police investigator claimed that the spyware had been downloaded from actively visiting porn sites.

Amero [a  href="vny!://www.norwichbulletin.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20070105/NEWS01/70105039"]testified[/a] that she had told four other teachers and the assistant principal about the popups, but received no assistance. The school's internet filtration software was not working because it's [a style="font-weight: bold; font-style: italic;" href="vny!://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/01/11/spyware_teacher/"]license had expired[/a]. Amero faces up to forty years in prison.

thats insane and not right. Its a mistake that they kept popping up.. but the schools anti spyware had expired. Who's to say the kids hadnt gone to that site then been stopped?

  Schools fault not the teachers.

Wow. Now that's what I call a bit extreme. She should not have to face charges against her simply because the school failed to upgrade their filtration system. Disgusting.

BTW, isn't there a free program that disables spyware/adware programs? Spybot or something like that?
