Title: Anyone have problems with PVR ?
Post by: P.C. on Dec 08 06 09:33
I'm sitting here waiting for cable guy to show up.  They WERE polite enough to call this morning to 'narrow down' expect time of arrival, (between 11 and 3 ????  *could we put it a little MORE into the middle of the whole day?)

Anyways, we've had this thing for just under a year, and we've had it replaced twice already, and now he's going to replace it again!

  Has anyone else have the same problems???

Cable guys. We had it narrowed down to a day, would you believe that. The operator said somewhere in the middle of the week, from 9am to 5pm. Wonderful service.

  That was the one time only. To install cable into our new home. That was it. I hope never to deal with them again.

Well, THAT was worth the wait......and the wasted day....sort of.

Cable guy shows up with an up-grade, because they didn't have any like the one we have.

Hubby will be happy when he gets home.

Lise.....[img style="CURSOR: pointer" onclick=url(this.src); src="vny!://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/more/bigs/c008.gif" border=0]...... silly goose.  PVR is like TiVo.  It doesn't really give us any extra channels.  The up-grade has a longer memory.  I can tape more stuff than the one we had.

pvr = personal video recorder???

  how exactly does that work? does it record on a hard drive somewhere on the box itself? can you record a show and pass it around to your friends like you can with vhs tapes? all these new technologies just passing me by. i just got myself a cell phone 2 months ago! heh

 Yes kingy....personal video recorder.  My sister has had it for years, but it was only available for satelite.  That's exactly how it works.....it records to a hard drive in the box itself.  You have to burn it to a DVD to pass it around.  The beauty is that you can watch something you've recorded while recording something else.  You can pause, replay or rewind live TV and skip through commercials.  It has boodles more functions, and I quite like it.

  (my favourite is the replay of live TV.....I can't tell you how many times hubby will yell to me while I'm doing dinner or something.....COME SEE THIS.  And of course I get there just when it's over)
