This new treatment is not dependant on hormones and works by preventing the longitudinal muscle in the vas deferens from propelling sperm out of the penis.

Smith expects the pills won't be on shelves for at least five years.

Hmmm, doesn't sound too natural to me.  It's telling a guy to keep himself from ejaculating or climating.  It's like telling the girl not to orgasm and just hold it there.  I wonder what happens to the sperms?  I suppose it just dies or something?

Maybe for ultra feminists it is I dunno.  I mean I'm all for what they protest for but come on sometimes.  They can't pro create on there own yet.  They need a guy for that.

On the pill.  Well think of it like this purelife. The female pill stops girls from getting pregnant from preventing menstraul cycles (i think). The male pill would work the same way. The man would still get erect and such and would still have an orgasm but nothing would come out.  Sperm doesn't cause an erection, getting 'excited' and blood flow does.

Uh, I read about this the other day and already crossed it off the list of even a remote chance of me using it. First off Im a guy, second off I myself am not very good at taking pills once a day at the same time (I have to do that with Malaria pills when Im in western africa and I sometimes miss a week here and there), and third off if theres no load then whats the point? If you are that worried just go for a pearl necklace.

Yeah, I wouldn't make my guy take this.  And by that time, I'll have my tubes tied.

Honestly? No offense to the women but I like this better than a guy getting snipped. At least tied tubes although expensive can be reversed, getting snipped=screwed.

yeah I'm not good at taking pills at the same time everyday either. I forget sometimes to take my own meds. lol don't know how you girls do it.

Yup, honestly.  I wouldn't even ask for him to get snipped or any guy for that matter.  YIKES!  The pain!

you can't reverse the process after getting your tubes tied. once its done its done.  If I guy gets 'sniped' sperm will eventually find another way.  Guys have gotten girls pregnant before after getting 'snipped'.

LOL on taking pills on time.  Whenever I'm at home, my b/f reminds me too.  He sets his watch to ring at the time that I take it.  hee hee...

Yup, you can reverse SD.  It's just gonna cost the girl, 10 grand and more.

getting snipped takes 15 seconds while getting tubes tied is a horrible experience and you start having hormonal problems for a while.

wrong SD. It is a procedure that is done. Two of my friends were looking at this as they dont want kids.. at this point. So after talking to the doctor this was done.

Nope, tieing tubes is VERY easy and painless.  My coworker got it done and just took a few minutes of "laser zapping."  Very quick.

[span class="titleMedHeadB"]Can a tubal ligation be reversed?[/span]
In some cases, yes, but don't count on it. Reversals are expensive and insurance companies rarely cover them. They're also much more complicated than closing or cutting the tubes in the first place, and your chances of being able to conceive after a reversal are uncertain. Only 20 to 40 percent of women who reverse a tubal ligation go on to give birth successfully (and your chances for an ectopic pregnancy increase). Tubes that are closed off by cauterization can't be put back together properly, because the heat destroys their delicate lining.

Although if you get snipped, it gives a whole new term to SHOOTING BLANKS.

whatever. I've seen both done on people and the male had a better experience then the female.

All this talk about snipping is making me cringe...

Insurance companies arent a worry up here SD, and if it isnt covered it is affordable as Im sure you know.

When my friends had the procedure done, they were told it could be done two ways and one was more easier to reverse, but more expensive to do.

Are you talking about mood/ pain or reversals? I dont actually know about the aftereffects afterwards, I didnt get that much into it when my friends talked about it. I kinda went an internal "lalalalalala" after thinking ouch.

    whats the difference in aftereffect?

All I know is my mom didn't have the greatest experience a couple years ago.  She was in a lot of pain and cried a lot for a couple weeks after.

I think that it's different here and times and technology have changed.

She had it done 3 years ago. So I don't know if times have changed that much.

Firstly, vasectomy's ARE reversible.  The procedure and after affects are extremely minimal compared to the woman having her tubes tied.  The womans hormonal balance can be out of whack indefinitely and the procedure itself is more invasive than a vasectomy.

The crux of the problem here is, men just don't like the idea of anyone going after their good bits with anything sharp or pointy.

Hubby had it done several years back, and when he went in to the office, he came back about 5 minutes later.  I thought he left his CareCard in the car and was just coming back to get it.  He was DONE.  We went to a staff party afterwards and even danced a couple tunes.  He had a little bruising the next day, and that was it.

I have one question, P.C.  How did he manage to get seen by the doctor in less than 5 minutes??  Either he was booked first or you were in the presence of a miracle!!  lol

True, the mans is quick. Im thinking about getting it done after two kids when/ if ever that comes along for me. I recently found out that my dad had it done years ago.

I remember them saying that the vasectomy is reversible, but being told by the doctor that getting the tubes tied was more reliable from pregnancies and easier to reverse than a vasectomy.

think about it. Our 'stuff' is outside the body the ladies 'stuff' is inside. Which do you think would be easier to reverse? lol

I was as shocked at how fast he was back to the car as the next guy.  It's just done in the doc's office....that's all he does.  Appointment is booked....very little prelim' or prep.   No wait.....boom......done.  (hubby was shocked too)

The reversing of a tubal may be easier from a surgical point of view, (although I've never heard this) but the affects are greater.  I wouldn't even consider having the procedure done (man or woman) unless you're certain that you no longer want any (or any more) children.  You absolutely have to give thought to issues such as.....If I split from my spouse, would I want more children in the future....or if anything happened to the children I already have etc .........

After a couple kids, women have definitely contributed their fair share of discomfort.
