How many cups do you drink a day?

I myself love percolated, but it takes so long I only drink it on occasion or when camping. I was thinking about this on the weekend when I was away camping.

I normally drink drip coffee as I set it for when I wake up in the morning along with my brother if he remembers, and I buy a Timmy Hos on the way in the morning as well as one more there.

  I drink about 6 cups a day.

I blend my coffe with mostly dark Columbian.  I'll add some mocha, hazelnut, Irish Cream or some breakfast blend.  To save time and still have perked coffee, you should have a coffee perk with a timer so that you can set it up at night and it will be ready for you when you wake up.  It really gives a lift to the morning.  I usually drink a full 12-cup perk of coffee a day, but on my days off I might have six or seven cups.

Do you mean a coffee maker like this:

[A href="vny!://images.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=vny!://216.25.78.123/pics/mrcoffee/ar13.jpg&imgrefurl=vny!://www.digitalfotoclub.com/drip-coffee-makers.asp&h=200&w=200&sz=8&hl=en&start=1&tbnid=6cMSQRXCKWvEKM:&tbnh=104&tbnw=104&prev=/images%3Fq%3Ddrip%2Bcoffee%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D"][/A]

  Or like this?:

[A href="vny!://images.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=vny!://images.overstock.com/f/102/3117/8h/www.overstock.com/images/products/P1123963.jpg&imgrefurl=vny!://www.overstock.com/sm-stainless-steel-coffee-percolator--pg-proframe_pi-1455728_ti-82124.html&h=300&w=250&sz=8&hl=en&start=12&tbnid=r11suf-qBkY5CM:&tbnh=116&tbnw=97&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dcoffee%2Bpercolator%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D"][/A]

The first one is what I consider drip coffee, and the second percolated coffee?

Do you mean to get it all ready on the stove then just to turn it on when I get up? If you know of a different way I dont PLEASE do share...

Im lazy like that and found it easier to use the drip coffee and set the timer so its done when I get up, grab a cup, smoke, shower, coffee coffee coffee, mug of coffee for the drive.  [A href="vny!://images.google.ca/imgres?imgurl=vny!://www.omegamanenterprises.com/images/liteimages/liteimages/1126%25209%2520Cup%2520SS%2520Percolator.JPG&imgrefurl=vny!://www.omegamanenterprises.com/omlite.htm&h=348&w=568&sz=22&hl=en&start=15&tbnid=rO2GYfWI448_iM:&tbnh=82&tbnw=134&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dcoffee%2Bpercolator%26svnum%3D10%26hl%3Den%26lr%3D"][/A]

We have used the same brand for about 10 years.  Last year it was discontinued.  We're still looking for that taste we both love. *cry*

I only drink 2 cups in the morning and never after 9am.  Mind you, you can stand a spoon in it.

I mean the top coffee maker, Russ.  But the one I'm thinking of has a clock with a timer you can set for whatever time you want.  Mine broke, so I'm using a cheapie right now until I get another good one.  Since I get up at 5:30 I used to set it for 5:15 so it would be ready when I got up.  There's nothing like waking up to the smell of fresh-brewed coffee.

I use a single drip cone and brew one or two at a time. I drink 3 or 4 cups in the morning and steady caffiene intake throughout the day.
Percolators always make me think of being little at my grandparents and watching the bubbling. But I think the toddy method makes the best coffee (brewing a big jar of concentrated coffee then adding hot water to your portion - makes it creamy and yummy).
I'm all about the fair trade and shade grown. Millstone just came out with some for a decent price.
Slightly off topic but has anyone else seen Viso in their area, yet? Best energy drink ever! It comes with 300 milligrams of caffiene, as well as 100% of your vitamins (all of 'em - C, all the B's, etc) and lots of other good stuff like zinc and folic acid. It's a great energy boost without feeling like you're on crystal meth.

Mine was a Braun, but there are many of them on the market.  Don't go for the cheapest.  Consumer's Guide should have some good recommendations if you google it.  They are really worth the expense.

I have a cup of Tetley tea with cream/sugar.  That's enough to get me going all day long.  I'm more of a herbal/chinese tea kinda gal.

Too much caffeine makes me drowsy.  Plus, I'm not a fan of the strong taste.

Really?

French Press

  [A href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_press"]vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_press[/A]

A French press, also known as a press pot, coffee plunger or cafetière, is a [A title=Coffee href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coffee"]coffee[/A] brewing device popularized by the [A title=France href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/France"]French[/A]. Its operation is simple and it produces a stronger coffee than other devices.

A French press consists of a narrow [A title="Cylinder (geometry)" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cylinder_%28geometry%29"]cylindrical[/A] [A title=Jug href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jug"]jug[/A] usually made of [A title=Glass href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glass"]glass[/A] or clear [A title=Plastic href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Plastic"]plastic[/A], equipped with a lid and a "plunger" which fits tightly in the cylinder and which has a fine wire or [A title=Nylon href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nylon"]nylon[/A] mesh acting as a filter. Coffee is brewed by placing the coffee and water together, leaving to brew for a few minutes, then depressing the plunger to separate the coffee at the bottom of the jug.

The French press goes by various names around the world. In [A title=Australia href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Australia"]Australia[/A] and [A title=Ireland href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ireland"]Ireland[/A] the whole apparatus is known as a [A title=Coffee href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coffee"]coffee[/A] plunger and coffee brewed in it is known as plunger coffee. Its [A title="French language" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/French_language"]French[/A] name is cafetière à piston, a melior (from an old brand of makers of coffee pots of this type) or a [A title=Bodum href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bodum"]Bodum[/A] (another brand). In the [A title="United Kingdom" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom"]UK[/A] the device is known as a cafetière (the French word for "coffee pot"), perhaps from the [A class=new title="La Cafetière" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=La_Cafeti%C3%A8re&action=edit"]La Cafetière[/A] brand name.

Because the coffee grounds are in direct contact with the brewing water, coffee brewed with the French press captures more of the coffee's flavour and [A title="Essential oil" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Essential_oil"]essential oils[/A], which would become trapped in a traditional [A title="Drip brew" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drip_brew"]drip brew[/A] machine's paper filters. French pressed coffee is usually stronger and thicker and has more sediment than drip-brewed coffee. Because the used grounds remain in the drink after brewing, French pressed coffee should be served immediately so as to not become bitter from over-extraction.

Coffee for use in a French press should be of a consistent, coarse grind. The use of a [A title="Burr mill" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Burr_mill"]burr mill[/A] grinder gives a more consistent grind than the whirling blade variety. The ground coffee should be more coarse than that used for a drip brew [A title="Coffee filter" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Coffee_filter"]coffee filter[/A], and far coarser than that used for [A title=Espresso href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Espresso"]espresso[/A]. A French press can also be used in place of a [A title="Tea infuser" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tea_infuser"]tea infuser[/A] to brew loose [A title=Tea href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tea"]tea[/A].

A French press is also more portable and self contained than other coffee makers. [A title="Travel mug" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Travel_mug"]Travel mug[/A] versions also exist made of tough plastic instead of the more common glass, and have a sealed lid with a closable drinking hole. Some versions are marketed to [A title=Hiking href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hiking"]hikers[/A] and [A title=Backpacking href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Backpacking"]backpackers[/A] not wishing to carry a heavy metal [A title=Percolator href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Percolator"]percolator[/A] or a filter using [A title="Drip brew" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drip_brew"]drip brew[/A].

 CLIFF NOTES:

Put coffee grounds into the container

Add boiled water OR boil water in container with COURSE coffee grounds immersed in it.

After 5 Minutes press down plunger with fine wire mesh at bottom to force coffee grounds to the bottom to separate from the now brown coffee/water. this will then stay separated, and pour into mug, any remained coffee trapped in the bottom with the bottom mesh strainer will flow through the mesh hole area out into your mug as well leaving only the coffee grounds.

You can get ones you just add boiling water, or ones that you boil the water with the grounds in it. You can also get travel mug ones (I have a few of these) that you just put the dry coffee in and add water, then after bout 5 minutes push the press down and drink.

If you dont get it Ill do a step by step picture one when I get home, I gotta go now.

Are you still voting purelife? If you dont drink coffee choose another option like bacon, or i dont drink coffee, or no coffee but tea...

Come on people the poll is lagging, lets all move our mice towards the selection, now one two three CLICK!

You can vote twice so go towards bacon as the second one. If all else fails choose bacon, every poll should have that option.

Really easy to make chai tea. Just add water and your usual teabags. Then toss in 2 cardomon seeds, 2 star anise, 1 cinnamon stick and 2 pieces of cloves. Come to a boil. The longer it stays seeped, the stronger the tea. Just before serving, shut off heat and add milk to however creamy you want the tea to stay.

Well see, that's what imperialism gets you. We don't actually grow any of the stuff. It all comes from India and China and some other places in that part of the world. We just put things in it and then you get things like Earl Grey. We also make it stronger than other European nations, and that's why people go on about English tea. OIC. Thanks for clearing that up. I just remember drinking tea in England and it was such utter bliss. Can't duplicate the same stuff here no matter how hard I tried.
