When and under what circumstances did the US self-appoint itself to this post?
The role, I think, has something to do with the development of the atomic bomb and the billions upon billions of unaccountable American tax dollars looted towards the development of weapons systems -- much of it bogus research designed to line corporate pockets. To justify such extreme looting of the public coffers, the US needs enemies. To say who the enemies are, and to have the authority to deem them as "criminal" or "renegade" regimes, the US Gov't appointed itself as Policemen, Judge, and Jury of the world.
after world war II, then when the Soviet Union fell its the only super power but still practices american form of imperalism. See South America, Southeast Asia.
Its crazy, they control everything.
Uh, Adam Fulford, thats the reason why the us has such a strong and always at least moving consumer economy. Big business ventures and expendetures on military will always drive an internal economy. Well, thats the way I see it, you are probably going to disagree with me.
EDIT: Sorry didnt see your reply SD. I agree with you, but I think the term used is 'Heavily Influenced'. More PC.
because no other nation in the world would answer to soviet expansionism in the immediate post war world.
they never appointed themselves but rather it's an extension of a desire to spread freedom and democracy into regions of the world where there isn't any.

I think this question should be answered first : did the US actually self-appoint itself ?
