Congressman Foley is resigning following reports he sent sexually inappropriate e-mails to underage congressional interns. They posted these emails on [a href="vny!://www.citizensforethics.org/"]Citizens For Ethics.org[/a] but I've read them and I don't see anything overtly sexual. I must be missing something, or else these aren't the emails in question.

Where is all this "sexually inappropriate" stuff? I just don't see it. (I don't doubt it, but these can't be what all the fuss is about, can they?)
That's sexually inappropriate? Pretty soon they will claim that saying hello to a minor is exhibiting lustful thoughts.

There's got to be more to this, because I just don't see squat in those emails.
Then why didn't they print the objectionable mail instead. That wouldn't offend a Baptist preacher, and they're really touchy.

Yep, I guess that would upset a Baptist preacher. I think it's rather sick.
Supposedly there's something more explicit out there... give it a few more hours and Smoking Gun will have it.
I really don't get it. They work all their lives to get to their position, and then they screw it up by doing something really stupid. Do they lose their common sense along the way?

They do it because they're astoundingly arrogant and they truly believe that the law doesn't apply to them. It's the only reasonable explanation for why they do something so incredibly stupid- because they think they'll get away with it.

There are such people, but I don't think this is necessarily the case here. IMHO, it could be a temporary kind of hoopdidoop of their intelligence. Did you read about that judge who while sitting on a court case was heard to use a penis pump (don't laugh, this apparently really did happen). Some witness said that he or she did hear a swishing sound and saw the judge doing something under this robes... Why would someone like a juge risk his career for an incredible stupidity like that ?
