Post by: jeffbc on Jun 26 06 09:34

OMG, JEFFBC!  Is that really you?  Do prove it?  I just want to make sure....

OMG!  HI!  It has been so lonely without you.  How have you been?

Register your name here so that I can bless you.

It's friendly territory.

And people here seem to know how to Google their own questions rather than using them as an excuse to see their name next to a topic!!!

You are definitely in safe territory.

You rarely come on during the day.  You playing hooky today?

  Who do you remember?

Prove it\'s me? To you or to me? How can I be asked to prove I\'m me to you? Isn\'t being me enough?(How\'s that?)

Hey, I got banned at DV for daring to respond to that "101 Ways to Rape a Child" thread.  Bad, bad me. Thank god DV nipped me in the bud before I went on a serial killing rampage.  Besides: it was Nathan Chang that kept the thread going, I only responded, "Naughty Nathan".

*Smacks Steve across the head with a rolled up newspaper for even clicking on that thread*

What the hell did you hope to see in that?

I've sent you two private mesages, one in reply to your scary message (//vny!://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/Teasing/5.gif) and the other with my email address.

You know, you can always get a hold of me here.  I have all my private messages notify me via my email.  And, I've set up my account such that there would be a pop-up if I get new messages.

I don't know. Only my space bar sticks, and I'm not adding slashes. I see them if I preview messages, but can't get rid of them.

I was wondering why you have slashes.  Maybe Teh Borken, who is the Admin/Owner of DS can help you?  I'm not tech savvy.

I'm not positive, but this may have to do with the selection of the Rich Text (HTML) editing window versus the normal text area window. Look at the bottom of a post or reply page and make sure it's set to "Rich Text" for the default:

[span style="color: rgb(0, 0, 0); background-color: rgb(96, 154, 159);" class="smalltext"][input value="1" checked="checked" name="richedit" onclick="set_cookie('on')" type="radio"]Click here to set Rich Text Editor as your default
[input value="0" name="richedit" onclick="set_cookie('off')" type="radio"]Click here to set normal Text Area as your default[/span]

The NTIA - an arm of the US government's department of commerce - is holding a public meeting at the end of July over what should happen to the current Internet overseeing organisation ICANN when its contract is renewed in September. In the meantime, it has opened a public comment board where you are able to email comments for the US government and the rest of the world to see. The board is open now but comments need to be sent by this Friday, 7 July. The email postal address is [A href="mailto:[email protected]"][email protected][/A].

[DIV class=Ad] [SCRIPT type=text/XXXXscript]  document.write('\x3Cscript src="vny!://ad.uk.doubleclick.net/adj/reg.internet.4159/front;pos=middle;' + excats + GetCookie('vcs') + 'ptype=' + ptype + ';site=uk;maid=' + maid + ';test=' + test + ';tile=3;sz=336x280;ord=' + rand + '?" type="text/XXXXscript"]\x3C\/script]'); [/SCRIPT]  [SCRIPT src="vny!://ad.uk.doubleclick.net/adj/reg.internet.4159/front;pos=middle;vc=int.front;ptype=article;site=uk;maid=;test=false;tile=3;sz=336x280;ord=1696678390092738?" type=text/XXXXscript][/SCRIPT]  It is the first time that the public has been able to directly contribute to the debate surrounding governance of the internet, and it has already seen dozens of people email their ideas and views. The question of how the internet should be run has recently gained wide international interest following public arguments over the US government's current position as overall authority. The subject is also likely to become all the more important in the next few years as the internet expands to incorporate different languages and different countries more fully.

This situation has already seen a flood of emails from people asking for the US government to reconsider its role and allow a sharing of power between governments at the very top of the net to prevent any undue influence from creeping into the system. Numerous statements are also expected in the next few days from internet organisations, including ICANN itself.

The "notice of inquiry" asks specific questions about how ICANN functions - and should function - and poses wide-ranging questions about what could be done in the future. There is some concern that since ICANN remains a relatively unknown organisation this will put people off making their views known, so the At-Large Advisory Committee, which represents the views of ordinary internet users within ICANN, has set up its [A href="vny!://icannalac.org/content/view/107/88/"]own query process[/A] to elicit suggestions from the wider public.

If you want to know more, you can read about it on the [A href="vny!://www.ntia.doc.gov/ntiahome/frnotices/2006/NOI_DNS_Transition_0506.htm"]NTIA website[/A], or you can visit the people's representative ALAC at its home pages: [A href="vny!://www.icannalac.org/"]www.icannalac.org[/A]. Now's your chance to have you're voice heard, so get typing. ®
