LOL!  Excellent SD!  No guts no glory, they say!

Oh, and I get into the spirit of Canada Day by wearing red and white and putting on those flag tattoos all over.

Go naked.

No seriously. I'm just going to have a quiet dinner with some friends.

The first Canada Day celebration I went to it turns out that I knew the person who sang the anthem.  Later on, I told her that it was pretty sad that it took an American to point out that she had actually left out an entire line of "O Canada" when she sang it . . .

no fireworks at CP.  They cancelled it two years ago and I don't believe that they plan to bring it back...sucks!

There will be fireworks at the Surrey Cloverdale's Fairgrounds and Bear Creek Park.

Tu casa es en les etat unis?  (ok that last bit was en francais...)

And that sounds kind of naughty, 49er.  The "mi casa es tu casa" bit.  Hmm, the last time a guy told me that, it went a liitle bit "interesting."  (//forums/richedit/smileys/Teasing/4.gif)

BUT...we will have fireworks for 4 nights at the end of July and at the beginning of August.  I'm looking foward to watching it one Saturday night.

Well, I'll be out of town during the fireworks this year—my house-sitters can watch them from my balcony . . .

The first year they didn't have fireworks on Canada Day I started ribbing some of my friends.  I said, "I've finally discovered the difference beween Canada Day and Fourth of July:  no fireworks.  Is it because you guys lost the war?"

I mean, even the most impoverished municipality in the US has fireworks, on Independence Day, if nothing more.

My Canadian friends told me it was because the government was too cheap to have fireworks.  I told them that stinginess was what I had come to expect in Canada, and the next time I wanted fireworks I would make the trip down to the US.

How could anyone possibly know it was Canada Day if they didn't get a chance to explode something?

Well, Americans are good at blowing up stuff and are amused easily at simple things like fireworks.

I was in Palm Springs once for July 4th. Great fireworks, it was the folks brainwashed in "red, white, and blue" that made me want to vomit. 90% of the houses have that bloody stars and stripes flag on their front porch too?!!!? WTF?????

We've decided to have a little party and sing O Canada and do some other Canadian type activities. I'd like to find a good documentary on its history or something.
I'll probably sneak out to puff a little herb and ponder the freedoms Canadians enjoy (at least in Vancouver) that are denied to us here in the land of the "free".

Shhhh. Don't do that President Harper arrest you.

And it might be the last year I can legally burn the flag, so I better do it now or never since its now one of the Republicans top goals for the election year. Banning burning of the flag.  Geez whats next banning manicans that look like the president?
