I was just getting to like it on DV. DS is going to take some getting used to... is there an Academe-esque character on here with whom I can toy?

I like the fact that you can find people on DV at all hours of the day (and night). However I'm also aware of the fact that there're no guarantees of their being of sane mind...
At least you know that on DV hitting F5 is guaranteed to bring up a different screen each time, whereas over here you need to log off, read a chapter or two then refresh, only to find 1 new message.
So that doesn't really answer your question, because there're a few unknowns about me and perhaps I should reveal them for the first time in this thread:

I was present during the birth of this bulletin board and was among the very first 10-15 members that registered as soon as the new board was operational.
I'm not currently using my registered name, but if I did everyone would recognize me right away.
Nonetheless in the past couple of months I've been more active on DV than on DS.
Yea, that's a terribly good breakdown of the two boards, actually. The ephemeral nature of DV does make it incredibly interesting, whereas DS seems gather traffic from people looking for sensible conversation only. I miss DV.
DV is more "liquid" (DS can be downright cumbersome). But there was a lot more tripe to wade through to find the juicy stuff. Oh, and they call Vancouver people cold--they should see the flame wars on DV!

Why do people keep asking "which side are you on?", as if it's impossible to love both boards. I'm not neutral, I enjoy them both, for completely different reasons obviously.
There is definitely something to be said for excellent forum software and a talented, responsive mod.
On the other hand, the Wild West has its charm. DS is my warm and comfy home, where I can have a nice convo or PM my buddies. DV is where I go when I want to throw shit on the walls and wrestle with people even weirder than I am.
In other words, DV for banter and DS for a more comfortable kind of intercourse.
I enjoy DV because I can flame and troll all I want in many user names. I'm having some fun right now. I shock myself of what the things I can come up with.

As for the comment that DS is so quiet, I think I much prefer it this way. This board will garner more and more followers, mark my word.
Nothing like someone on DV who has single-handedly manage to cure me of DV addiction. In a way... it's a blessing.
I do miss some of the posters from DV but I must say this is is good therapy.
