Awesome. I can't wait for this movie to come out.

Big X-men fan. Wouldn't have guessed. Looks better then that Superman movie.
did you see the 7 min trailer on fox? i think it was yesterday or friday. my days are all messed up.
I was intensely worried when Brian Singer left the project, but from the looks of this it will be a great movie.
I'm guessing from the apparent size of Magneto's army (god I love Ian McKellen) we'll have a festival of obscure-character spotting. And new mutants on the good guys side, too! Yay Angel, Yay Beast! I thought Gambit was going to be in this one, though.
"New" mutants abound.
From the trailer I see.......
a) Dr. McCoy aka Beast
b) Warren Worthington aka Archangel
c) Juggernaut
d) and I think that's Spike but am not sure. He's the dude that has spikes all over his body so I'm pretty darn sure we'll be seeing Callisto and her gang.
Rumor has it that this will be the last instalment of X-Men. We will likely see each character go off on their own, sorta like Elektra from DareDevil. (boy, did that movie suxxxxxxxxx)
I LOVE WOLVERINE. Would not mind seeing this bad boy in his own movie. Love the fact he's Canadian. Woot!! Woot!! Woot!!!
Got it here!!!

I didn't see the trailer. I was watching the season finale of Smallville.
Saw a bit of the season finale of Smallville. Agrh! Have to wait to see what happen next. Poor Clark Kent. I think he'll come back stronger than before and hopefully in his new outfit. * heh *
What I'll really miss is Battlestar Gallatica. Sigh. Season finales......too soon.
Smallville has a contract of no tights, no flights. But they've broken the flight thing once.

It's obvious they read all the Frank Miller stuff, but chose to ignore it. Where's the ninjas?!?! (they all showed up in the Batman movie). It could've been so much darker and cooler, but now they screwed it up for good it seems.

Agreed! Apparently it's in the works and I can't wait! Ooh, wouldn't it be cool if Robert Rodriguez and Frank Miller made it? (fanboy fantasizing there)
xmen 2 is gonna be on tv for the first time this friday. i know you've seen it already but hey, it builds more excitment to see this third one.
Have the first two DVDs so I'm going to watch it in preparation of the third movie. Yay!!!
I'm not much of an Elektra/ DD fan..... don't know much about it but Gopher's right. They shouldn't have strayed from the story line. It sucks for fans who know and love the characters well. BRING BACK THE NINJAS soon!!!
As for the Wolverine story line, I am hoping they'll be faithful to the comics. I want to see Logan's dark beginning and how he became an agent for Alpha Flight. I want to see more Canadian content with regards to him. Too bad they had to screwed up Lady DeathStrike.
It is too bad they've also screwed up the Jean Grey/ Phoenix character in the movies. I would have love to see the Saga of the Phoenix brought to life. ie. how she lost her memory, became involve with the White Queen and ultimately becoming the Dark Phoenix.
Still.... it's better than nothing. I rather see more X-Men franchise out there than not.
Man, I can't wait to see this movie. It looks really cool! Shame it's the last one. Stan Lee should eventually make a huge Marvel Cross Over movie that's several hours long. That would be frickin sweet!
It's too bad they don't take the Pheonix story line straight from the comics. That would be great to see an over the top full bore sci-fi X-Men movie.
Lise, I'd like to see Wolverine stuff you mention too. But I'm really dying to see them do the Frank Miller miniseries storyline*. Maybe Wolvie's the next franchise? There's so much they can do with that character.
* I obviously am biased toward ninjas. And Frank Miller.
FC - can you expand on the Frank Miller and ninja storyline? The only Frank Miller stuff I know come from Sin City. (DAMN good movie)
Frank Miller wrote the graphic novel that was translated into the new Batman Franchise series "Batman Begins" and so on.
I did not know that. Thanks! Maybe I'll look into more comics by Frank Miller.

OK, nothing to do with the title thread but she looks hawt.

A great four issue mini-series from the late 80'swritten by Chris Claremont (oops I thought it was written by Miller) and drawn by FM. It involves Logan trying to marry his true love whose family is big-time Japanese crime boss. Intrigue and ninjas ensue. Highly highly recommended for Wolverine fans.
Yup, wasn't he dating Lady Deathstrike??
Too bad it didn't work out.
If memory serves me right, Yuko was Logan's love at one point. She was the daughter of a Yakusa (spelling) boss but he got killed and she inherited his position. Because of her seat, she could not become Logan's lover and subsequently gave him up.
But yeah.... I don't know how Lady DeathStrike came.....? Anyone?

Shoot. I got it wrong. Here's from Wikipedia.
Early in their run on [A title="The Uncanny X-Men" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Uncanny_X-Men"]The Uncanny X-Men[/A], Claremont and Byrne created a subplot wherein Wolverine became romantically interested in [A title="Jean Grey" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jean_Grey"]Jean Grey[/A]. Jean was in fact strongly attracted to Logan, but her heart truly belonged to [A title="Scott Summers" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_Summers"]Scott Summers[/A] a.k.a. Cyclops as they would later marry and Wolverine's feelings went unreciprocated. Wolverine later fell in love with and was engaged to Lady [A title="Mariko Yashida" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mariko_Yashida"]Mariko Yashida[/A], heir to an extremely powerful [A title=Yakuza href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yakuza"]yakuza[/A] family in Tokyo. He was forced to kill her father in a duel, and he also destroyed the father's crime cartel. Mariko and Logan became estranged due to the honor customs of her family and the manipulations of the villain [A title="Mastermind (comics)" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mastermind_%28comics%29"]Mastermind[/A]. Once they were finally reunited she was poisoned by Reiko, an assassin for the [A title=Yakuza href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yakuza"]Yakuza[/A]. She asked Wolverine to end her life quickly rather than let her die a slow and painful death from the toxin and he reluctantly complied. This changed Wolverine's character significantly, making him more disciplined and emotionally distant.

D'oh!
I was dead wrong as well.
I thought they were dating.
Ooof! Why does it feel like we're discussing celebrity gossip??
(//vny!://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/Shocked/1.gif)
Ah, tenk.... it feels like old times when we were talking about Star Wars.
I thought Lady DeathStrike was intimate with Logan at one point. I guess I was wrong as well. She is his bitter enemy though.
Her story:
Yuriko Oyama's father was [A title="Lord Dark Wind" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lord_Dark_Wind"]Lord Dark Wind[/A] (Kenji Oyama), a [A title=Japan href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japan"]Japanese[/A] crime lord and criminal [A title=Scientist href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scientist"]scientist[/A] who created the process by which [A title="Adamantium (comics)" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adamantium_%28comics%29"]adamantium[/A] can be bonded to bone. Kenji was a former Japanese [A title=Kamikaze href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kamikaze"]kamikaze[/A] pilot during [A title="World War II" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/World_War_II"]World War II[/A]. His face was horribly scarred in a failed suicide attack on an American battleship. Feeling shamed by his failure decades earlier, he scarred the faces of Yuriko and her two brothers in a ritual design. Her two brothers would later die while in the service of their father.
Yuriko teamed up with Daredevil to free her lover, Kiro, from her father's servitude, and to gain vengeance for her scarring and the death of her two brothers; when Yuriko slew her father (just as he was about to kill Daredevil), the devoted Kiro chose [A title=Suicide href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Suicide"]suicide[/A] to honor his master.
Distraught, Yuriko belatedly embraced her father's ideals and sought to track down whoever dishonored him. Her trail led to [A title="Wolverine (comics)" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wolverine_%28comics%29"]Wolverine[/A], whose skeleton had been bonded with adamantium. Deathstrike sought to kill him to right the wrong of the theft and thus restore her family's honor, but she was defeated by [A title=Vindicator href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vindicator"]Vindicator[/A] of [A title="Alpha Flight" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alpha_Flight"]Alpha Flight[/A]. Yuriko then went to the [A title=Mojoverse href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mojoverse"]Mojoverse[/A] and [A title="Spiral (comics)" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spiral_%28comics%29"]Spiral[/A]'s "body shoppe" where she received extensive cybernetic enhancements including adamantium bones and talons.
Lady Deathstrike was once a member of the team of criminal cyborgs called the [A title="Reavers (comics)" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reavers_%28comics%29"]Reavers[/A], led by [A title="Donald Pierce" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Donald_Pierce"]Donald Pierce[/A], who once managed to successfully defeat the [A title=X-Men href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X-Men"]X-Men[/A]. The Reavers have since been annihilated by the [A title="Sentinels (comics)" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sentinels_%28comics%29"]Sentinels[/A], and Yuriko has been operating independently.
At times she has resigned her quest to kill Logan and has even worked with the X-Men cooperatively toward a common goal as she did in X-Men Annual 2000. (In this case the goal was to defeat [A title=Stryfe href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stryfe"]Stryfe[/A]). However she still remains a [A title=Mercenary href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mercenary"]mercenary[/A] and [A title=Assassin href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Assassin"]assassin[/A]. Despite all this, Yuriko is set apart from many of the X-Men's foes in that she adheres to an [A title="Honor code" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Honor_code"]honor code[/A], despite being emotionally disturbed.
Deathstrike is possibly responsible for the near-death of [A title=Sunfire href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sunfire"]Sunfire[/A], whose legs she severed in battle. Dying, he had [A title="Rogue (comics)" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rogue_%28comics%29"]Rogue[/A] absorb his powers so she could battle Deathstrike. The X-Men later went to see where Sunfire's body had been left, only to see it had disappeared. He later resurfaced as one of the new Horsemen of [A title="Apocalypse (comics)" href="vny!://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Apocalypse_%28comics%29"]Apocalypse[/A].

Just saw X-Men: The Last Stand.
I must say, I was not happy. Had great expectations of this movie but it was a failure. Bryan Singer who directed the previous two should have helm this one.
All special effects could not help save the movie. Wolverine and Storm's roles were expanded but where is Nightcrawler?!?!?!? And blast me if they did kill off major characters.
Tacky, tacky, tacky ending.
Sir Ian McKellan's performance was solid all the way through but alas, even he could not save the movie.
Well the movie did break a ton of records so I wouldn't be suprised if this wasn't the last xmen movie.
No, it's the last..... at least for the time being but the movie will spawn lesser characters to come out of their shells. Wolverine and Magneto movies are due to come out next year.
Watch for Ghost Rider with Nicolas Cage. Looks interesting.
Any cool shots of Vancouver?
Plenty but I must say I could not recognized any of the shots here. There was one with Warren flying over but not sure where. Some shots were probably shot along Golden Ears Provincial Park.
They took great pains to make the entire set look like San Franciso.
Oh so its not like Smallville where they shoot in front of the cool Vancouver library or the fraser bridge pops up in scenes every once in a while.
No, not really or I wasn't really paying attention. I was not impressed by the movie.
Anyways, gotta run, SD. Time for bedtime. TTYL.
