UBC
UVic is geared towards "aqua" planning or whatever the heck that is. They're marine intensive. SFU is "environmental" intensive and UBC just has freaking everything. I really don't see the big deal anymore in undergrad at the big schools. Yeah I'll think about it if I get in (which I won't) but I'm getting to involved over here with student stuff.

Do they offer your program at UVic- or just UBC?

Sweet, sounds like my kind of place. I do like Victoria a lot.

Downtown Victoria has a neat vibe.  You might end up there, SD- with your education in geography and planning.  They had some of the first cycling coalitions, car-share co-ops, barter exchanges... The gov't workers/activists sit in the bar and conjure up new ideas all the time.  It's a pretty tight-knit community, with people mainly working in govt/tourism/university or small business.

totally awesome.
bummer on Tofino. You know that display of Tofino at Royal BC? A guide told me that in all the years he'd work there, only one person never liked staring at it for hours. He told me that the guy said "that's my view outside of my backyard, I remember when they came by and took the picture to set up the display at the museum". I was blown away.

really? wow. amazing. I'd take a view looking at a parliament or capitol over an ocean view really.

Campbell River is getting nicer every time I see it.  I used to think it was a hole, but now I'm quite liking it.  They've really done a lot with the place....very 'up-town'.  It's really starting to look like the perfect little seaside town that it was always meant to be.

Comox has some really super areas too.....plus the whole area between Courtenay and CR is awesome to me.  We looked at a nice place up there a while back....price was reasonable, but figured out that it was because it was close to Saratoga....so I guess it might be a little noisy in the summer?

Courtneys great! I dont find alot of anything there.

I do like Duncan though.. its the midway on my journeys normally, and I stop to eat at a bar there. And I yes I always point and laugh at the Expo Hockey stick there in duncan. It does look worse for wear.

If I was to move to the island I would like to be in like the campbell river or outer nanaimo area. Victoria would drive me crazy.. and although port mcneil and port hardy are nice theres not much there and its always grey up there. But to be realistic it prob wont happen.. Starfishies job is here.

One light to Courtenay. A dozen to Nanaimo.  [img style="CURSOR: pointer" onclick=url(this.src); src="http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/frech/p026.gif" border=0]

Courtenay on the whole is NOT a pretty town.  Some of the fringe is really nice.....older architecturally beautiful homes.  The downtown is also nice....great shopping if you're into getting away from the mall chains.
