As you all know a fabulous Thanksgiving Dinner does not make itself. I need to ask each of you to help by bringing something to complete the meal. I truly appreciate your offers to assist with the meal preparation.

Now, while I do have quite a sense of humor and joke around all the time, I COULD NOT BE MORE SERIOUS when I am providing you with your Thanksgiving instructions and orders. I am very particular, so please perform your task EXACTLY as I have requested and read your portion very carefully. If I ask you to bring your offering in a container that has a lid, bring your offering in a container WITH A LID, NOT ALUMINUM FOIL! If I ask you to bring a serving spoon for your dish, BRING A SERVING SPOON, NOT A SOUP SPOON! And please do not forget anything.

All food that is to be cooked should already be prepared, bring it hot and ready to serve, warm or room temp. These are your ONLY THREE options. Anything meant to be served cold should, of course, already be cold.

1. Turnips in a casserole with a lid and a serving spoon. Please do not fill the casserole all the way up to the top, it gets too messy. I know this may come as a bit of a surprise to you, but most of us hate turnips so don't feel like you a have to feed an army.
2. Two half gallons of ice cream, one must be VANILLA, I don't care what the other one is. No store brands please. I did see an ad this morning for Hagan Daz Peppermint Bark Ice Cream, yum!! (no pressure here, though).
3. Toppings for the ice cream.
4. A case of bottled water, NOT gallons, any brand is ok.

 [SPAN]The Bob Byron Family[/SPAN]
1. Green beans or asparagus (not both) in a casserole with a lid and a serving spoon. If you are making the green beans, please prepare FOUR pounds, if you are making asparagus please prepare FIVE pounds. It is up to you how you wish to prepare them, no soupy sauces, no cheese (you know how Mike is), a light sprinkling of toasted nuts, or pancetta, or some EVOO would be a nice way to jazz them up.
2. A case of beer of your choice (I have Coors Light and Corona) or a bottle of clos du bois chardonnay (you will have to let me know which you will bring prior to 11/22).

 [SPAN]The Lisa Byron Chesterford Family[/SPAN]
1. Lisa as a married woman you are now required to contribute at the adult level. You can bring an hors d'ouvres. A few helpful hints/suggestions. Keep it very light, and non-filling, NO COCKTAIL SAUCE, no beans of any kind. I think your best bet would be a platter of fresh veggies and dip. Not a huge platter mind you (i.e., not the plastic platter from the supermarket).

 [SPAN]The Michelle Bobble Family[/SPAN]
1. Stuffing in a casserole with a serving spoon. Please make the stuffing sans meat.
2. 2.5-3 qts. of mashed squash in a casserole with a lid and serving spoon
3. Proscuitto pin wheel – please stick to the recipe, no need to bring a plate.
4. A pie knife

 [SPAN]The June Davis Family[/SPAN]
1. 15 LBS of mashed potatoes in a casserole with a serving spoon. Please do not use the over-size blue serving dish you used last year. Because you are making such a large batch you can do one of two things: put half the mash in a regulation size casserole with lid and put the other half in a plastic container and we can just replenish with that or use two regulation size casserole dishes with lids. Only one serving spoon is needed.
2. A bottle of clos du bois chardonnay

[SPAN]The Amy Misto Family [/SPAN](why do I even bother she will never read this)
1. A pumpkin pie in a pie dish (please use my silver palate recipe) no knife needed.
2. An apple pie in a pie dish, you can use your own recipe, no knife needed.

 Looking forward to the 28th!!

LOS ANGELES (AP) — A man was charged Tuesday with smuggling songbirds into the United States by hiding more than a dozen of them in an elaborate, custom-tailored pair of leggings during a flight from Vietnam to Los Angeles. [/p]Sony Dong, 46, was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport in March after an inspector spotted bird feathers and droppings on his socks and tail feathers peeking out from under his pants, prosecutors said. [/p]"He had fashioned these special cloth devices to hold the birds," said U.S. attorney spokesman Thom Mrozek. "They were secured by cloth wrappings and attached to his calves with buttons." [/p]Authorities later linked Dong's scheme to Duc Le, who was arrested after investigators searched his Orange County home and found 51 songbirds in an outdoor aviary. Both are charged with conspiracy in an eight-count federal indictment. [/p]The songbirds sell for $10 to $30 in Vietnam and are sold to collectors in the United States for about $400, Mrozek said.    [/p]"They're rare and there are collectors who are willing to pay top dollar for these things," he said. Five of the birds died in transit. [/p]Dong returned to Vietnam in February to pick up more birds and returned a month later with three red-whiskered bul-buls, four magpie robins and six shama thrush under his pants, prosecutors said.

It took me years before I "got" the joke Moons Over My Hammy from the Denny's menu. day...I was nowhere near a Denny's restaurant when it hit me like a sudden bolt of lightning.....Miami!  *chuckles to self*
When I was about 10, I got glasses for the first time.  The eye doc always referred to them as "corrective lenses".  So...according to my 10-year-old logic, they were going to "correct" my shoddy eyesight...permanently.  I was so bummed out that I needed to continue wearing glasses for months and years after that, and that my vision never magically returned to 20/20.  Damn corrective lenses weren't working!
List some quirky facts about yourself:
I like the number 3.  I do repetitive things in 3s.
My eyes are always red at the end of the day.
I don't like the last sip of tea, coffee, or beer in each serving.
I don't like the dregs of cereal milk or melted ice cream in the bowl.
 MSG gives me itchy eyes.
My fingernails grow at hyperspeed, and I usually cut them every Wed.
Y'all round up your co-workers today at lunch, buy some toys and go have free brekky tomorrrow!

Me, I haven't finished my year end financials yet.  Fiscal year ended Oct 31, so I'd better get a move on.  Life keeps getting in the way, though!!
Would like to resurrect the plastic housing for my popcorn maker (broke in 2 after 20+ years).  What kind of glue can I use?  Note: the section being glued won't actually make contact with food, but will get hot.
Hey, I'm posting this as I'm generating ideas to help my friend.
She wants to make a "nice" Christmas (not expensive) for her two young kids.  Hubby is against the whole thing because he's not into celebrating- he's not a very joyful person...even though they could afford to buy some nice gifts.  Anyways, she's looking for ways to stretch $30 per kid into a pile of gifts under the tree.
They don't have other relatives close by, so all the gifts they are going to receive will come from mom and dad.
She's going to the Dollar Store, and I'm going to take her to Michaels (for the $1-$2 craft kits)  and the mall.
I've suggested that she buy some "essentials"- toiletries, regular clothing items, etc. (that she normally buys for her kids) and wrap them up as gifts.
 What else?
Wrap each gift in a BIG box?

I'm not surprised.  These horrible candies taste like plastic, anyways!
When I was a kid, I used to eat the rice paper off the outside and throw away the candy.

[span class="lingo_region"]LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - A slice of cool, fresh watermelon is a juicy way to top off a Fourth of July cookout and one that researchers say has effects similar to —but don't necessarily expect it to keep the fireworks all night long.  Watermelons contain an ingredient called citrulline that can trigger production of a compound that helps relax the body's blood vessels, similar to what happens when a man takes , said scientists in Texas, one of the nation's top producers of the seedless variety. [/p] Found in the flesh and rind of watermelons, citrulline reacts with the body's enzymes when consumed in large quantities and is changed into arginine, an [a style="text-decoration: underline; color: black; cursor: pointer; display: inline; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal;" class="lingo_link" href="" rel="nofollow"]amino acid[/a] that benefits the heart and the circulatory and immune systems. [/p] "Arginine boosts nitric oxide, which relaxes blood vessels, the same basic effect that  has, to treat erectile dysfunction and maybe even prevent it," said Bhimu Patil, a researcher and director of Texas A&M's Fruit and Vegetable Improvement Center. "Watermelon may not be as organ-specific as , but it's a great way to relax blood vessels without any drug side effects." [/p] Todd Wehner, who studies watermelon breeding at [a style="text-decoration: underline; color: black; cursor: pointer; display: inline; font-family: Arial,Helvetica,sans-serif; font-weight: 400; font-style: normal;" class="lingo_link" href="" rel="nofollow"]North Carolina State University,[/a] said anyone taking  shouldn't expect the same result from watermelon. [/p] "It sounds like it would be an effect that would be interesting but not a substitute for any medical treatment," Wehner said.
