Title: What is your favourite word?
Post by: Lisa Maree on Feb 27 06 04:09
So yeah, what's your favourite word.  Mine is epitome - the ultimate, the embodiment.

ASATOMA SADGAMAYA
TAMASOMA JYOTHIRGAMAYA
MRITHYORMA AMRUTANGAMAYA
OM SHANTI, SHANTI, SHANTI

You say it as one word.  [img style="CURSOR: pointer" onclick=url(this.src); src="http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/frech/c035.gif" border=0]

I have a poet friend who likes to ask people for 5 of their favorite words, then try to write a poem using them. It always makes something pretty neat.

I love the feel of certain words in my mouth the way I love the texture of certain foods. When I was a teenager, I loved the words maelstrom, whimsy, and vector.

Right now I really dig the word chrome. I don't choose them because of what they mean, just how they feel in the mouth.

I was so fond of the sound of the word lurid in my 20s that I legally changed my last name to it for about 18 months. I was kinda goofy.

Montelimar, is one of my favourites......especially how Deborah Kerr  used to say it.  (I think it was Deborah Kerr) It never sounds as good when I say it.

I know, I know! I was as contrived in my artless "eccentricity" as only a 24-year-old can be.

I'm just lucky it wasn't even sillier. It would have been epiphany or palindrome or zephyr, for crying out loud! Ay yi yi...

FC.....I like onomatopoiea
[/DIV]For shame, for shame....I have no idea what that is.[/DIV]In general, I like words that seemed to have been abandoned...perhaps too flowerey or old fashioned words.  But no other words have ever substituted their descriptiveness. (now there's a word ...or maybe not)

Chagrin.....what other word says it better.  I use it, and suffer the consequences.

I never like it when someone uses words that are specific to what someone does, WHEN THEY KNOW you won't have a clue what they're talking about.  It's pretentious and I feel like they're purposfully putting you in the position of feeling like a dummy.  I'm open to learning new words, and I love it......BUT, there are times, I know they're being condescending.

Now THAT was a RANT.[/DIV]

I've always been a big fan of the word "Yes!", especially when said by my date. (//forums/richedit/smileys/Happy/22.gif)

I had a friend who was dating a gal. Her father didn't like him at all and told her to loudly say "NO!" to anything he asked her to do. So on their next date he asked her "Would you mind if I remove your panties?"

Kokolores. I've just come across it, it's not a female name but a  German word which means balderdash or rubbish.

Post by: kitten on Jun 05 14 07:52
I think currently the word is bamboozled.  I'm trying to set up my phone in the bedroom and the instructions are driving me nuts.  I almost get it, and then I mess up and ruin the settings.  After that, I carefully put the phone back on the stand before the urge to throw it at the wall materializes.   GRRRR!!!  If it rings, I can answer it.  If I actually want to phone out, I retreat to the living room to make the call.  I concede defeat when it comes to setting up the phone according to the instructions.

Trying to set anything by the instructions is almost an impossibility, trial and error (it's usually error) is the only way.
I often use youtube  for help.

So far error seems to have the upper hand.  But I will get there eventually.  (I keep telling myself)
