Nice idea for a thread.

I'm happy because someone close to me is getting over a serious illness and is waking up to a whole new life.

I'm happy because, as you said, DS is a breath of fresh air in the stinking slaughterhouse that is the Intarweb. I'm happy because I made a new friend that has made me laugh and see the world in a different way.

Sorry to ruin the thread but I can't think of anything postive at the moment. I'm Debbie Downer in male form. Except I'm more extreme.

I'm very happy that I have a computer and can communicate with all you wonderful people.

And cheer up, Sportsdude,  Things will improve as time goes on.  I know from personal experience, believe me.  Just hang in there and do one day at a time, or even one hour if that seems too much.  You'll get there!!  I'm rooting for you.[img onmouseover="this.style.backgroundColor='#C6D3EF';this.style.border='1px solid #3169C6'; " style="BORDER-RIGHT: #3169c6 1px solid; BORDER-TOP: #3169c6 1px solid; BORDER-LEFT: #3169c6 1px solid; CURSOR: pointer; BORDER-BOTTOM: #3169c6 1px solid; BACKGROUND-COLOR: #c6d3ef" onclick="InsertImage('/forums/richedit/smileys/Happy/21.gif');" onmouseout="this.style.backgroundColor=''; this.style.border=''" src="http://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/Happy/21.gif" align=absMiddle]

[DIV align=left]here's something positive..........[/DIV][DIV align=center] [/DIV][DIV align=center]Empty Mayonnaise jar & 2 cups of coffee[/DIV]

[P dir=ltr][SPAN lang=en-us]A professor stood before his philosophy class and had some items in front of him. When the class began, he wordlessly picked up a very large and empty mayonnaise jar and proceeded to fill it with golf balls. He then asked the students if the jar was full. [P dir=ltr][SPAN lang=en-us]The professor then picked up a box of pebbles and poured them into the jar. [P dir=ltr][SPAN lang=en-us]The professor then produced two cups of coffee from under the table and poured the entire contents into the jar effectively filling the empty space between the sand. [P dir=ltr][SPAN lang=en-us]"Now," said the professor as the laughter subsided, "I want you to recognize that this jar represents your life. The golf balls are the important things--your family, your children, your health, your friends and your favorite passions---and if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be full. [/SPAN]

[P dir=ltr][SPAN lang=en-us]The pebbles are the other things that matter like your job, your house and your car. [/SPAN]

"If you put the sand into the jar first," he continued, "there is no room for the pebbles or the golf balls. The same goes for life. If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuff you will never have room for the things that are important to you. [/SPAN]

[P dir=ltr][SPAN lang=en-us]"Pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness. Play with your children. Take time to get medical checkups. Take your spouse out to dinner. Play another 18. There will always be time to clean the house and fix the disposal. Take care of the golf balls first---the things that really matter. Set your priorities. The rest is just sand." [/SPAN]

[P dir=ltr][SPAN lang=en-us]One of the students raised her hand and inquired what the coffee represented. I also want to mention that i feel positive practically every day now that i am back in Vancouver. It is such a great city, and BC is just incredibly beautiful (I am from alberta)...thrilled to be here and see the mountains and ocean every day! I think ppl forget what we have here...thats why i hate seeing all the disparaging remarks about vancouver over on the-site-which-we-shant-speak-of.

Refreshing to hear that greay cat.   I too think you have started a wonderful topic.  Sometimes we need a little nudge to look at all the positive things in our lives.  Thanks for making us reflect.

I am the Wiccan Chaplain for our local hospital here. Last night I got the call that one of the ladies in our church, who was pregnant and due end of March was in the hospital and in trouble. We got the congregation together and did much spellwork and prayer.

In short, the Baby was born, healthy and very much alive, despite being a month and a half premature. Mom is doing well too, although I think Dad has seen better days.

A soul has been reborn. A child has been placed in our care. A family has been enriched and our community increased. Thank you Mother Goddess and Father God for your power and protection. That's three babies in three months for our little church. Be careful when you ask the Goddess to increase your numbers.... She has a sense of humour.

Well, I recently got a new kidney. Actually, it's an old one, that my son donated. But it's new to me! And, miracles of miracles, it works just fine.

It's almost surreal being on this side of a kidney transplant, because it was a long-held goal to get one...and now that it's a done deal, I almost don't know what to do with myself. Almost... I think the new kidney is driving me to make a lot of changes in my life that I have been putting off for a long time. Should be interesting... Melon...

There is so much that is positive in this world.  You just have to take the time to look for it when you are surrounded by fog.  When the sun comes back out, you will see how much goodness there is.  (http://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/Happy/14.gif)
