comon you know you want to jump on the bandwagon now they won. Just tell everyone that you followed them the whole time. I wont tell if you wont tell.
Mentally I'm jumping up and down and applauding. GREAT game!
Actually I followed the team checked the standings every week.

Um, i think your lion is lacking in something. While my lion is lacking in life.
Lise's lion is lacking a helmet. Surprised you didn't notice, Russ.
Lacking in...... ah..... ah... nevermind. I promised to behave somewhat tonight.

There will be no wagon jumping for me. I've tried too hard in the past to pretend I like football to the point that I ended up throwing a HUGE Super Bowl party once. (I actually had a lot of fun) But most of that was in the cooking and prizes and games....lol
wrong lion there Lise...

So you watching the Grey Cup? Its negative 7 there... so do you think the Canucks are going to win with their star quarterback tevor linden or what?
Yeah, I REALLY know what Im talking about with the CFL. Im in the same boat you are :) I watched it with three friends that showed up at my door with beer.[/DIV]
They watched the game while you watched the beer???

I dunno, Russ. I was hoping Gretzky could have pulled a hat trick on the 20 yard line. It's impressive to see these guys slam dunk those things.[/DIV]

me and my friend were joking on how big the field is. I'd need to see medical attention if I sprinted the entire field and I'm a football player lol.
So if you played football as a kid in Canada do they go by canadian rules or american rules? Anybody know? Just wondering.
I can only guess. But I can only assume they would play Canadian rules in Canada.
They do in high school, and certainly in the universities.
canadian rules. why american rules? most of my friends watch cfl, dont like nfl.
canadian or american in high school and university kitten?
From my football years I would have loved to play with Canadian rules. Much bigger field. My high school team almost won the state championship one year we were ranked number 1 in the state beat everyone by 50 points. (ah the memories)
I could just imagine how much of a good time we would have had on a 110 yard field thats 65 yards wide.
(//forums/richedit/smileys/7.gif)
Dont know about Uni but I assume its the same. We play cdn in HS.
Do they play Canadian or American where you are, Sportsdude?
(you really don't have to answer, I was being a little cheeky) [img style="CURSOR: pointer" onclick=url(this.src); src="http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/more/bigs/c033.gif" border=0]
American and the high school was in the flight-landing path of the airport. And after the choir girl sang the national anthem big 747's would fly low over us. When I was in the band the freshman year (then I joined the varsity team my sophmore year so no band games for me, although the band did always want to talk to me shouting my name lol, I'd go on the field and they would start to scream and yell LOL). One time the guard flew over us before the game started that was pretty sweet.
I'm pretty pathetic only joined the football team because
A) I didn't want to get hounded by everyone saying 'you should play football' because your so tall/big
B) the pep rally when they called my name out I wanted to see who would cheer for me. Nobody ever did. (//forums/richedit/smileys/Sad/9.gif)
Then I went to a catholic school and I was the biggest/tallest person there they called my name out and about 600 people would scream my name and cheer for me. Didn't know how to deal with all the attention. lol
Good for you, I wish I actually stayed on the team instead of getting frusted with all the hoohaa involved in it so I told em to screw off and I quit.
You might not have known how to how to respond to it but you must have enjoyed it! Hope you did anyhow, its a great feeling to have people cheering you on.
bc broke the cup...
seriously kingy! LOL. I thought it was broken in the interviews but I wasnt sure.

Yeah it was really hard to get used to the attention. At the first school I was just the quiet kid who only talked in history class and english class. Then I went to the other school got a ton of friends became super popular didn't know how to handle it and I fell apart lol.
This school I want to go to in Seattle I was loved and became popular (in just 5 days mind you) so it will be a lot like the second school. But this time I'll know how to deal with everything unlike last time.
yup they broke the cup.
Just imagine what horrors would happen if a Canadian team broke or dropped the Stanly Cup.
*Just imagine if the celebrating team was the Leafs lol, those crazy goofy fans would say they were cursed by the hockey gods. But the leafs won't win the cup so it won't be dropped anytime soon.*

I LIKE the way you think. 'bless'
One of the players put the top part on Dickenson's shoulder while he was being interviewed after the game.
( He's the quarterback, P.C. Otherwise known as the one who throws the ball)
I'm a Canuck and Canadiens fan.
Dream Stanley Cup final would be a Canuck (or I like to call them the Orcas) vs. the Canadiens. The series would go seven games and I'd like the Canucks to win it because then every Canadian team would have more championships then the Leafs have had in what is it 40 or 50 years now? lol lol lol
Don't get me started on hockey I'm a fan of all Canadian teams and I personally would like to try Bettman for war crimes against Canadian hockey teams.
He killed the Jets.
He killed the Whalers.
He killed the Nordiques.
Doesn't want Hamilton to get a team.
Doesn't want Winnipeg to get a team back.
Nor Quebec if they ever get rid of that old arena.
Instead he puts teams in Miami. woohoo what a hockey hot bed.
Atleast he brought a team back to Minnesota and Denver but at the expense of Quebec.
What's a CFL?
I think the pubs in Canada had more NFL games on than the Grey Cup. The Dallas game had more hype.

In the Lower Mainland of BC, the high school's play American rules. Most of the rest of Canada plays Canadian rules.
Toronto hates the CFL and are praying to the sports Gods they will get an NFL team. I think they will never get one.
ok, let's be realistic here. I am al for Canada having sports teams too, but lets look at a couple things here,
He killed the Jets. - The Jets never died, they are just in Phoenix, that is all. Winnipeg support was weak for the Jets, until they threatened to move, then the rally was incredible. Winnipeg doesn't deserve that team!
He killed the Whalers. - How?
He killed the Nordiques. - Same story as the Jets. Quebec City is a tiny market, and weak ticket sales = see ya!
I think it all comes down to $$ and that is all professional sports are about. Once people realize this, they don't care if a Canadian city has a team. Its all a joke! Believe me, most NHL players would rather move to Miami than Quebec City.
talking about weak support for teams, just take a look at the attendance for certain markets. winnipeg, quebec both have more of a fan base than places like florida, alanta. he 'killed' those markets by simply wanting to move into more states he thought would give the nhl more exposure. why have two teams in florida?

You are probably correct on this, but my friends however misguided they may be like CFL with bigger fields and guys that play hard without long commercial breaks.
That being said they bet on the NFL.

That is because you and your friends are smart and know what a great league the CFL is. No crazy salaries, no dumb hype, not a 1000 commercials between every clock stoppage.
CFL is real! CFL has guts! CFL is tough!
CONGRATS TO THE LIONS!
Any Lions fans going to the party downtown Vancouver today?
I saw that when I was walking by this afternoon. At the Art Gallery! Wow, busy. There were police guards....gosh. really really crowded!
was there free food? i guess i'll have to catch it on the news.
Yeah, I was looking for food too. Nope, no free food but someone there did hand out free samples of Kelloggs Nutri-Grain Munch'ems. Yummy.
Did someone say free food? Hmm. Wish I could go there. I mean, not to celebrate our little lion's victory but to get food. Heh.
Oh Lise, no free food there. I wish..... There was this face painting booth.
I think that everybody there needs to be told to just GET BACK TO WORK! LOL (http://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/Teasing/12.gif) just kidding....
If its healthy then its not food.
Its food for food.
it is too bad that they can only get a few hundred people out. if the canucks ever win the cup, you know there will be thousands and thousands.
Thats true kingy, it is sad cause the lions work harder than the nucks do. But the lions arent as popular now as they used to be and hockey is. We seem to be a hockey town.
I wonder if vancouverites still think they have a basketball team? lol
I still have and wear a Vancouver Grizzlies hat. The confused looks that I get when people read it is worth it.
Sportsdude wrote:

I went to a Grizzlies game once vs. Portland.
It cured my insomnia! When they left Vancouver, it was "oh well, who cares?".
We have a basketball team????

Had..
Oh right. I remember my husband telling me it was bought out by someone in the states. He said they weren't very good in the first place so it was no big lost.
lol yeah they were going to come here but the sale fell through and they were bought by this Memphis group. So now they play in Memphis.
Sportsdude wrote:

Memphis is probably a better market than Canada. Even the Raptors of TO can't sellout a game, and Toronto is a big city.
All Vancouver needs is the Lions! GO LIONS IN '07!!
sports, are you the only one in the USA that knows the CFL exists?
Spread the word, CFL ROCKS!
I doubt that it is as advantageous for tax writeoffs or investment for a fifthy rich person to own a team in Canada as in the US
haha! I am sure you are right 49er!
too funny..kinda sad, but true!
