We would probably need a minimum of 1,000,000 troops in Iraq to properly quell the insurgency, and we are having to extend tours just to keep PRESENT troop levels. Good luck with that!

We'd need a soldier every 15 feet in a grid covering the entire country. And even THAT wouldn't do it.

The U.S. military is unable to recruit enough cannon fodder to effectively do the job in Iraq. We are undermanned already in the middle east, engaged in a seemingly unwinnable struggle against a foe who's numbers and morale grow daily.

Someone made a post about this in the book thread, about how we are in a 4GW war and that we won't/can't win it. I agree with that, Iraq is just another Vietnam with sand instead of jungle.

We'll never succeed over there, and I'm not sure the current administration wants to or even cares as long as they rake in enough $$$$$$$. Then it's on to Iran for more fun in the sun.

Geeez. the people at Network Solutions are scum.

I have a few domains registered with them that are coming up for renewal. The typical cost for 1 year of registration is 8 to 10 bucks almost anywhere on the web. I went to renew the one at Network Solutions at they wanted $34.95 PER YEAR. That's just too damn expensive.

So I go to do a domain name transfer and on the 'unlock domain' page there's a little note to the effect of "oh we really want your business, please call us please please please".

So I call them and I tell the nice customer service lady that "$35 a year for registration is not only insane, it's insulting", and that I'm switching to another registrar. I can host them for 4 or 5 years at any other registrar for that price (most have multiple year discounts).

Wow, amazingly enough they [span style="text-decoration: line-through;"]realize they were caught red-handed[/span] generously offer me the renewals at $8.75 a year with no limit on the number of domains, etc etc.

I took them up on their [span style="text-decoration: line-through;"]shitbag[/span] kind and generous offer, but I came away feeling like Network Solutions is run by a bunch of truly scummy motherf*ckers. They'd have gladly let me pay $35 a year for each  domain if I basically hadn't threatened to switch away.

That's just a shitty business ethic. They'll cheat you if  they can but if you catch them, then and only then they'll give you the real price that they should have all along.

That's just a shitty, dishonest way to run a business IMHO.

I confess that I have posted on DV.

You know, I *like* DV, or I should say I *liked* DV (past tense). It was DV that kind of spurred me to start DS.

It used to be a cool place but now it's just a toxic wasteland of pointless threads for the most part. I don't really want to read about 99% of the crap that's posted, plus the racism, homophobia, and rampant "retard-o-mania" is overwhelming.

It used to be fun, now it's a chore to try and do anything there. No matter what you post, someone will chime in with dick jokes, "fagg0t!!!" comments, or a missive about how the Chinese are smarter than everyone else in the universe.

Lurker does not participate in normal forum discourse,        but he's out there...watching, reading every message. He is usually quite        harmless, and more often than not his silence reflects a natural reticence        rather than sinister motives.
