I've never understood why some people are actually afraid of retirment - do they really have so little vision? It's freedom time, time to do what you want.
Title: Re: Gophie's Countdown
Post by: Sportsdude on Apr 23 08 12:38
true. I think people are just worried about being not as active adventureous as they were in their 20s. My plan is to sort of see as much possible in this decade then come back a couple decades later (retirement) and reminisc with the grown up kids, talk about adventures etc.

Make each day of freedom be filled all those things that started with.."Someday I'm going to......." ...And may each day be as rewarding as the last.  Whether it's lounging in your favourite chair, reading, uninterupted and unhurried... or it's packing off to an African safari.....ENJOY !

Gophie,
Congratulations ... I assume your ex-boss / ex - co-workers have not eaten you.
Enjoy your retirement.
Any big plans?

No -plans at all (yet). I did have quite a few and then I decided to see what life was like without having anything planned ahead - after all, from the day we start school everything's mapped out for us. When I've had a month or so of  'exploring my options' i.e. just lazing, I'll start to apply myself to see what I can do to make my presence counted: although it recently occurred to me that  those people who are relatively unheralded and unknown are very often the most worthy of our regard. It will be interesting to see what happens - it's like a big adventure opening up, a whole new canvas on which I can write a whole host of new mistakes (and maybe revisit a few old ones as well).

Whenever I hear quotes about "tasting the relish" in a figurative sense I always substitute "taste the jam between your toes" ...
do you think this says something about my personal hygene??

No. If it did , you would have typed cheese instead of jam!
