Just curious how many people are going to weddings this Saturday.

I remember the news a couple YEARS back, saying that it was almost impossible to get a hall for weddings, as they were booked so far in advance as to snag this date.  There were even stories of people who weren't even dating who had reserved halls with the hopes that their prince would show up in the meantime and be ready to walk down the aisles by 07,07,07.

I bare my ignorance to all.

What steps do I need to take to use a copyrighted image.  I'm looking to make tags to put on some things I have made, and have chosen an image that is copyrighted.

What do I do, or am I SOL ?

I loaded Picassa back when it first came out, loaded up all my pics.....and put some in a 'Hidden Folder', which requires a password to open.  I haven't used the program for a long LONG time.  Recently, I was looking for some photos that seem to have disappeared,  remembered Picassa and had a browse through all the photos there...... no luck finding what I was looking for.

Then I found the Hidden Folder (which I had forgotten all about) but can NOT for the life of me remember the password.  I tried everything.  Well....almost everything.

So the problem is, I can't find anywhere on Picassa's website that deals with this issue, and it isn't in the help topics.  Well it IS, but all it says, is that you can change the password, but naturally you need the old one to do it.

  Any suggestions?

Discover Seattle! / Lending money.

Borrowing and lending money.  Has anyone ever been in a position where they want to lend money to a good friend.....but know they will never see it again?  Let's assume we're talking about $1000.00.   I guess the best route would be to give what you can afford as a gift ?  How do people handle this ?
#220
This is actually pretty good.  It's done quite well.

Has anyone ever invented something, and gone the distance with it?

I tell ya.....I think I missed my calling.  (or is it money I'm missing)

I've come up with a brilliant idea (if I do say so myself), and would love to know where to go with it.

Anybody done this???

Discover Seattle! / Drinking Water
Apr 22 07 08:50
Some valuable information that I thought I should share.

In a number of carefully controlled trials, scientists have
demonstrated that if we drink 1 liter of water each day, at the end of
the year we would have absorbed more than 1 kilo of Escherichia coli (E.
coli) bacteria found in feces. In other words, we are consuming 1 kilo
of Poop.

However, we do not run that risk when drinking wine (or rum,
whiskey, beer or other liquor) because alcohol has to go through a
purification process of boiling, filtering and/or fermenting.

So just remember this:

Water = Poop
Wine = Health

Therefore, it's better to drink wine and talk stupid, than to
drink water and be full of sh*t.

There's no need to thank me for this valuable information; I'm
doing it as a public service

I hear tenkani is sick and kitten is feeling not so good either!!!

This will never do, so I'm borrowing Lil Me's idea for a get well gift basket for him and one for kitten who is also not well.

Dig deep and be generous and we will have it delivered in style.  Cards, letters.....everything !

OK....I have just spent the day hauling endless crap out of the attic space (and any other space one can store crap).....in the attempt to organize myself for a garage sale.

There are boxes and boxes and even more boxes of fabric.....enough books to start a small library.....dishes, ornaments, small appliances............................................................The biggest problem I'm having is the limited space I have to sort through it.

  I'm overwhelmed !!!!!

I'm sure it will take me at least a week just to haul this stuff out.

SO....from there....what's next?  How far ahead do you advertise.

Anybody done this who has any advice?

What is the chore you hate the most ?  (inspired by kitten's idea of having Jeeves bring her lunch if she were to win the lottery)

So if you could hire someone to take your least favourite chore off your daily list.....what would it be?

I think for me, it would be making the bed.  I have no idea why it irks me so much (especially being as an unmade bed irks me equally)

What is the farthest back that you can remember?

Do you remember things as early as 2 or 3 years of age for example ?????

OMG.....this cat goes berserk !!!!

     [DIV class=storyheader]
Fat cat snaps, forces owner to barricade herself in room

Local pound officer needed police backup to corral feisty feline, which was in a fighting mood
[DIV class=feed_details]
Rob Shaw, CanWest News Service
[SPAN]Published: Saturday, March 31, 2007[/SPAN]

SAANICH - A dog owner will tell you cats have bad attitudes, even on the best of days. But an enormously fat black cat in Saanich took it a step further Friday, launching into a rampage that forced its owner to barricade herself in the bedroom and call 911 for help.

Saanich police got the early morning call from a woman "reporting that her 18-pound domestic cat had gone crazy," said Sgt. John Price.

The hefty feline -- comparable ain girth to a small dog -- had apparently started biting its owner. The municipality sent out a member of the local pound, teamed with a police officer "For backup," Price explained.

 LOL !!!!

Discover Seattle! / Computer HELP
Mar 24 07 05:43
It's no secret that my 'computer speak' ain't so good, but I really need some help (again).

I've spent the last 3 days working on a Windows Movie Maker 'production'.  Lots of fuss getting pics to fade in etc in keeping with the selected music. (especially when you do things in a 'hit or miss' manner....like I do)  I don't have a clear understanding of what I'm doing, but if I fuss around with it....the end results are usually good.

  NOW.....this is what I've done.

I was cleaning up the file folders where I collect the pics for these things, so of course they are all in different locations.

HOW DO I GET THE DAMN THING TO FIND THEM ????  I SO don't want to start all over again.  Is there any function that will make the system restore put files back to their original location ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Looking for some good restaurants in Van that are known for good food, without the suit and tie.

(jeans friendly....but not fast food) Any suggestions?

I was wondering if anyone in Vancouver/Burnaby etc., could have a look the next time you are shopping for coffee at your local grocery store and see if there is a Nabob Tradition Extra Fine Grind.  For some reason our stores are not carrying it anymore.

According to Kraft Canada it is still available, but they were not very helpful in telling me WHERE.  I haven't even been able to find it online.

We can still get the Fine Grind and the Extra Fine Grind in decaf.....but no Extra Fine.

I would much appreciate it......I'll be over there in mid-March, and I'd love to know where to get some without touring the whole city.

....subject you hated in high school, that you NOW wished you paid better attention.

For me it would be Social Studies (that's what we called it then....I don't know if they call it something different now)

I wished I'd paid better attention in history.  I'm clueless.

I also wished I'd paid better attention in geography.  I use to get A's and B's in this, because I could draw impressive maps and colour them like Michaelangelo.....but I had ZERO comprehension of anything.

How can this BE ???  It would have been only a misdemeanor if they had sex, but because they had consentual oral sex, he gets 10 years?????

Once, he was the homecoming king at Douglas County High. Now he's Georgia inmate No. 1187055, convicted of aggravated child molestation.

When he was a senior in high school, he received oral sex from a 10th grader. He was 17. She was 15. Everyone, including the girl and the prosecution, agreed she initiated the act. But because of an archaic Georgia law, it was a misdemeanor for teenagers less than three years apart to have sexual intercourse, but a felony for the same kids to have oral sex.

He's 20 now. Just two years into a 10-year sentence without possibility of parole, he peers through the thick glass and bars, trying to catch a glimpse of freedom. Outside, guard towers and rolls of coiled barbed wire remind him of who he is.

I'm wondering how many of you could imagine being a doctor, and having to face the dilemma of not being able to help a life because of religious beliefs.  Especially when the lives you're trying to save are reliant on someone elses decision.  What would your decision be if you were the doctor?  I'm prety certain I could not stand idly by and let a life slip away when there is some certainty I could save it.

I'm thinking all this seems rather odd.  If the couple that gave birth to these little miracles had to receive artificial aide in order to conceive these babies.....how is it then not OK to receive artificail aide to ensure they live.
