There is some blame there. Canada couldn't be bothered to officially declare Hamas a terrorist organization-which they most definitely were and are- until after 9/11. The Tamil Tigers are still not considered terrorists in Canada, I believe. That's not to absolve the Israeli or Sri Lankan governments of any responsibility for violence in those regions of course.

It's ironic in a way that the father is complaining about the government barring the media from covering the return of the war dead but that his son is being interred at a private family ceremony. Think he'll allow TV crews there? That said, maximum respect to the family.
