Title: Pink Shirt for men - gay?
Post by: Lise on May 18 06 05:21
OK. I want to buy a pink shirt for my man. Is it considered 'gay' (sorry to the homosexuals out there) to buy one for a man? A man wearing pink is cute.... right?????

Depends on how you define gay.

If the question is whether people will question his sexuality if he wears a pink shirt then...yeah, unfortunately.

Okay here it goes I'd wear the pink shirt only if I had a girl friend because A) I wouldn't care I'm with someone at the moment and B) She'll probly dress me because if she didn't I'd most likely be wearing what I wear everyday jeans and t-shirt.  And if I know one thing about girls its that they love clothes and like to dress there men. (sorry for the generalization but come on you know its true!)

No, I don't think people will question his sexuality.  My husband had a pink shirt, and he had no problems when he wore it.  It depends on your guy.  How do you think he would feel about it?

When you want to know how a guy will perceive another guy, don't ask a woman.

LOL

 Quoted for truth!

Seriously, it depends on the guy. I myself will wear whatever the hell I feel like, and I couldn't care less what anyone else thinks. I'm just not that malleable when it comes to other people's opinions.

As it happens, I don't have any pink shirts, not because I think they'd make me look "gay" (whatever that is), but because I just don't look good in pink. Or green, unless it's camo.

I would reiterate what most of the predeceased posters have stated... but in furtherment, it seems to me that it is not so much "your mans" insecurity about pink, as your own insecurity about what your man - wearing pink - might be prone to do or realise of himself... am I right?  Is he a bit of a lemon?

Men should wear what they like, if the non-gay is presumed as being gay simply because he wars a pink shirt, then he can take pleasure in knowing that he's successfully mislead those whose minds are of such petty preocupation that this sort of stuff really makes their day.

Why are people concerned about the sexual practices of a stranger anyway?  Whatever the colour, if you like it, wear it.

Light blue and grey for me, and pink and charcoal grey tomorrow.  I thought you would be on your way to where the rhodos bloom by now.

I would have been had not the day turned out to be one of very heavy showers (circa one every ten minutes, they don't last long but boy, when they come....)

Decided to delay my rhodi hunt until I go on holiday at the end of next week.

A rainy day is a good time to enjoy the pleasures of indoor living.  A perfect day to settle down with a good book.

I'm saving that for tonight, today's one which is going to be devoted to necessary chores - such as visiting the bank and trying to sort out one of my accounts.

Just to be clear, I wouldn't assume someone's gay (not that there's anything wrong this that) based on shirt color, but I know some guys who would. I'm just saying let's be realistic. The world really IS that petty and superficial. When you find someone who isn't, it's a rare candle in the darkness.

I think guys who wear pink shirts are cute.^^^^ I also think gay guys are hot though.Lol. In our school alot of straight guys wear pink shirts.  A shirt color not define someones sexual preference. Some may think things but those people don't matter.

Some guys look good in pink and some don't.  IMO, I think that your hubby will look nice in a light pink shirt.  His skin color seems to match it.  A guy who has fairly white complexion wouldn't look good in light pink, I think.  I could be wrong.

Pink shirts on men = gay or making a statement.

If they're making a statement, I'm not listening.

No. A guy can wear a pink shirt and not be gay or making a statement. It's just a color why do people care. I know guys who just wear it because they like the color.

You guys rock!! Thanks for the comments. (http://discoverseattle.net/forums/richedit/smileys/Happy/10.gif)  I'm still going to buy a pink shirt for him and put a gift receipt in there... JUST IN CASE.

I supposed seeing a guy wearing pink will make me think the other way. Then again, this is the age for metrosexuals out there.

Hey, I'll throw in my two cents, even though this topic appeared on DV recently and I wouldn't be surprised if one or two of the posters here may have been involved in that discussion.

Before I was married I dated a French guy who had a couple of powder-pink shirts and pullovers--and he looked positively hot in them.  He had a good eye for colour and what suited him, and it so happened that pink was one of those colours.  It pains me that so many heterosexual men from North America and the British Isles have such a phobia around that colour.  I think it's positively silly.

Oh, and I never "dressed" him.  First, I hate to shop.  Second, this guy obviously needed no help.  In fact, he gave me some good European-style fashion tips over the course of our relationship.  If that made him gay, then all I can say is that he was one gay man who had a huge appetite for at least one curvy woman with a penchant for wearing skirts.

I'm a woman who looks good in both pink and blue.  When I wear a powder-blue shirt, does that mean I'm a lesbian, just because blue is a colour for baby boys?

People should go for what looks good on them, no matter what the "fashionistas" and the insecure homophobes maintain.

Darn right, Ms. D. Too bad we can't change how everyone looks at the world.

1. Someone, somewhere seems to think that all men like brown, navy, and beige clothing that is cut wide like a grain sack. Finding solid black clothing is often difficult for men.

 2. Even the androgynous things made for women (e.g. gender neutral shoes, shirts, trousers, jackets) have much more interesting options in terms of design and colour. It's OK for men to like colours and fitted designs, and interesting collars, buttons, lapels, etc.

 3. Trollina has tried repeatedly to get me to wear a pink shirt. It is not for me, but men can get away with it these days if it is part of a different colour suit.

 4. Wearing a pink [span style="font-style: italic; font-weight: bold;"]suit[/span] is gay; wearing a pink shirt just makes you look like a piece of seafood.

I'm all for seeing Dissident in her PINK SUIT.

lol. Never thought about that before. Then again, thinking about a man looking like a piece of food is enticing to a pregnant woman.

  Meep. I'm so hungry now..............................
