Rumsfeld: Iraq Skeptics Should "Back Off"
US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld has said that those calling for Iraq deadlines should just "back off". Earlier this week, the Bush administration announced it had set deadlines with the Iraqi government, a claim denied by the Iraqi government.
In a press conference yesterday, Mr Rumsfeld stated that "You're looking for some sort of a guillotine to come falling down if some date isn't met. That is not what this is about." His comments come less than two weeks before mid-term elections.
Regarding deadlines for a handover of power in Iraq and a US withdrawal, Rumsfeld said: "You ought to just back off, take a look at it, relax, understand that it's complicated, it's difficult."
