I personally think there is not.

I suspect you're correct on this point.

but in my own life ive always felt something watching over all of us.

That's the Department Of Homeland Security you're feeling.

1) No
2) No
3) No

The real trouble with reality is that there's no background music.

I think gods were created by humans to keep other humans in check:  in other words, to maintain power over other individuals.  The more powerful the god was made out to be, the more the priests were held in great awe.  Lovely scam.  And the funny thing is, it still works.  A lot of people are getting rich by preaching love while encouraging hatred.  Personally, I have no use for religions.  Children can be taught respect and civilized behaviour without having to resort to threats of hell or rewards of heaven.
Thousands of years ago cats were worshipped.  They have not forgotten.

If God created us, who created God?

I believe because I choose to believe. I admit it. I have no way to prove anything to you, and you have no way to disprove anything to me. We can only point to beautiful wonders and horrible tragedies and then spin around like tasmanian devils trying to make opposing points that cannot be made.

Rule 1: Be happy. Do it as best you can without hurting anyone else, and if possible without hurting anything else around you.

 The rest is commentary.

If there is a God, it will be pleased by your observance of Rule 1.

If there is no God, everyone and everything else you care about will be.

1. Is there a God?

A: Yes

2. Do you go to church?

A: Not since my ex pastor had an affair with the youth minister ON a YOUTH TRIP TO ATLANTA!

3. Whats wrong with Christianity today?

A: Its was highjacked by evangelicals

4. Did you used to be religious?

A: Yes

5: Now?

A: Haven't regulary gone to church in 2 years. Even though my dad is the organist and choir director at the place.

6. What are you then.

A: Jerry Falwell and Pat Robertson cannot take my faith away therefore I must obstain from whatever they are doing because they don't represent my beliefs therefore I protest. (How funny since I'm a Lutheran)

7. Will you go back?

A: Not anytime soon. My hearts gone cold for religion basically, I don't need somebody to tell me what to believe and what not to. Faith is personal and private. Going around and acting like a bafoon is silly.

Well, I believe in God - but whether I should refer to God as he, she or it, I've no idea.

Basically I believe in a power that is beyond us all and for the sake of a name, I choose to call it God. But to say that I can comprehend God is another matter: if I COULD comprehend he/she/it then he/she/it would be within the scope of my comprehension and therefore lesser than I: ergo hardly God.

I've heard some say that they understand the workings of God's mind - I find this incredible, and wonder if those same people could even comprehend what goes on in the mind of a budgerigar.

I have no clue whether there is a god or not and I really don't
A god as it is most often described would have to be a being so far beyond the level of our comprehension that it almost becomes ridiculous to even bother thinking about it. A being that is responsible for the creation of everything in the universe, the setting of all of it's laws and parameters, probably couldn't give a toss whether you or I believe it exists, much less whether you look at porn or vote for Democrats.
Stop wasting your time trying to peer in to the mind of an impossible-to-understand being and just be yourself and try to do some good in the world. If you plant a garden do you demand worship from your flowers and observance of archaic rules and rituals? Or do you just want them to be flowers?
How can we pretend to know the wishes of  something so much bigger than us? From the words of a handful of influential loonies? Today people get medication if they think God is speaking to them, but we trust the words of the same type of nuts from 2000 years ago?
That all being said I think Jesus of Nazrareth had many good things to say and the world would be a better place if every supposed "Christian" were to actually follow just what he said and not all the other add-on crap.

...religion has made some contributions to civilization. It helped in the early days to fix the calendar, and it caused Egyptian priests to chronicle ecplipses with such care that in time they were able to predict them. These two services I am prepared to acknowledge, but I do not know of any others
