[/div][!--startindex--][b class="Dateline"]WASHINGTON, D.C. -- [/b]Rep. Cynthia McKinney admits that she broke government rules by spending money to fly a celebrity to Atlanta.Channel 2 Action News has uncovered documents showing McKinney, D-Ga., spent about $1,000 of taxpayer's money to fly singer Isaac Hayes to Georgia to help dedicate a new office in Atlanta.

The money came from a fund members of  Congress are supposed to use for office supplies.Using the money to pay for Hayes' airline ticket and hotel expenses is a violation of strict congressional rules. Those rules state that taxpayer money can only be used for "travel by Members, Members' employees and vendors.

A vendor is an employee of a private company that provides maintenance and support for equipment and software..."Watchdog groups call taxpayer-funded celebrity travel a blatant waste of taxpayer money.McKinney staffers say they will reimburse the congressional fund for the cost of Hayes' flight and hotel room.

How to say it... Ms. McKinney is not the most mentally well person in the US Congress. She has a long history of old baggage and some interesting thoughts about certain groups of people.

But when you make districts (ridings) like that, engineered to segregate both by race and by political "distribution" as determined by dealmakers,  you will elect people who are not necessarily the best qualified for the job.

The right wing media will spin this into a black people cannot be trusted issue. Its worked before, it will work again.

The whole thing is unfortunate, because McKinney was actually booted out in 2002 by Denise Majette, who thereafter provided political observers with the best modern-day example of Aesop's fable about the dog looking at his reflection on the bridge.

Against the advice of anyone who had an inkling of political wisdom, Majette decided that it made good sense for her to give up her House seat after [span style="font-style: italic; font-weight: bold;"]one term[/span] and run for the Senate. Given American political trends, and the districting I mentioned above, she could have stayed in the House forever.

She is now a "commentator", and McKinney is right back where she was, doing and saying the same things she did before.
