Piggies at the trough, my friends, piggies at the trough. [/p]Republican Sean Duffy, that poor, POOR bastard...he's struggling to get by on only $174,000 per year (plus free medical, dental, and health insurance for his whole family).
[/p]First the Republican Party in Polk County, Wisconsin, took down the tape of Rep. Duffy [a href="vny!://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/03/gopers-demand-sean-duffy-salary-tape-be-pulled-from-the-internet.php?ref=fpblg"]whining about making ends meet[/a] on his $174,000 a year salary from their own website. Now, however, they want to try and make it disappear from the rest of the Internet.[/p]In the unbelievably obnoxious clip, Duffy is asked whether he'd support cutting his own salary. Duffy says oh yeah, sure he would- but only as part of a plan where all public employees' salaries would be cut.
[/p]He then went on to cry about how the measly $174,000 in salary he receives is so tough for his family of eight to live on. Note that as a Congressman, Duffy gets free medical, dental, and comprehensive health insurance for him and his family of 8 (yes, eight- he has 6 kids). Listen to him whine:
[/p][blockquote] I can guarantee you, or most of you, I guarantee that I have more debt than all of you. With 6 kids, I still pay off my student loans. I still pay my mortgage. I drive a used minivan. If you think I'm living high on the hog, I've got one paycheck. So I struggle to meet my bills right now. Would it be easier for me if I get more paychecks? Maybe, but at this point I'm not living high on the hog.
[/blockquote]Wahhh, wahhh, wahhh. Well, no offense, Sean, but F*CK YOU. $174,000 is waaaaay more than most people in this country make, and unlike you, they actually work. He basically brags about having more debt, as if that's a) a good thing, and b) something to be proud of, as if it legitimizes his salary. It's as if he's saying, "I should make this much because I'm in debt!!!"
A day after [a href="vny!://tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/03/gopers-demand-sean-duffy-salary-tape-be-pulled-from-the-internet.php?ref=fpblg"]TalkingPointsMemo.com[/a] posted the video, the Polk County GOP contacted the video provider used to host the video, Blip.tv, and demanded the video be taken down. But that ain't gonna happen. First of all, they're NOT taking it down, and second of all, it's teh intarweb, and so now it's alllll over the place. Good luck hunting down the 50,000 copies that are out there now, suckers!
