Murphy's working overtime!  Can you cut the pipe to fit?  That is, after measuring very carefully so you won't have to raise the hearth again.

With the hearth being a half inch or so higher, it's not meeting up with the pipe coming out of the chimney.  The pipe 'elbows' directly from the stove into the wall, giving NO room to push it down farther into the stove.  We're thinking we may have to have something made.

If it ain't one thing....it's another.

What a shame, after all that hard work.  There's always something to mess up a perfect idea.  Will it be costly to get a new pipe?

I hope not.   The other alternative is to chip out the mortar and brick that holds the fitting in place.  Cheaper, but not a job I'd look forward to.  I have no idea how thick the mortar is behind the pipe.  Ugh.

I hope not, for your sake.  Someone once wrote, "To create, one must first destroy."  So I hope the pipe turns out to be the way to go.  It would be a lot less messy, and easier on you.

Thanks Kitten.....me too.

Well, must sleep soon.  Starting work a half hour later the last two weeks, and soon it will be another half hour.....but I still get up at the same time, lol.

I'm back at it day after tomorrow.  I'm going to see if I can change my shifts to morning and lunch.  I think it would be easier to handle than the long break between shifts that I have now.  Have a restful sleep, P.C.  I hope everything works out favourably with the stove.

I don't know how you've handled a split shift all this time.  That would drive me nuts.  Having 2 or 3 or even 4 hours in between shifts, would still feel like working to me.  You wouldn't have that Ahhhhhhh feeling when you got home after the first shift.

  Anyway.....off to sleep for me.   Goodnight Kitten (and weird al.....wherever you are)[img style="CURSOR: pointer" onclick=url(this.src); src="http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/froehlich/c010.gif" border=0]

Actually I had 7 hours between shifts, and it was wearing me out.  I seriously thought of packing it in even though I do need the income, but it should be easier if I can swing this change.

SEVEN HOURS  !!!!!  OMG....I had no idea.  That's awful.  (and you talk about ME)

I could handle THAT for about a week.

It's been going on for almost two years now.  That was why I was so happy to have surgery so I could have a break.

Well I hope you get the shift change.   I'm dumbfounded (sp?)  I just COULDN'T do it.

Good luck with THAT Kitten.

  OK....really, this time.  Off to bed [img style="CURSOR: pointer" onclick=url(this.src); src="http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/muede/n020.gif" border=0]

Hope you have a good night.
