Ahhhh, my pathetic attempt at techie advice....lol.  I see.  Well, those would be the first things I would do.

This summer I'm going to try to bike this entire thing:

I tried the defrag, and installed a registry cleaner, but still no joy.  I really don\'t know what else to do, so I might have to take it in.

Why thank you kingy....(I think).  I like to try the basics first.  Like a few days ago, I  couldn't post on DS to save my soul.  Everything hung up forever.....discovered  I had accidently 'abled' (don't ask) my pop-up blocker.  As soon as I realized it, I 'disabled' the pop-ups, and all was right with the world.  Coincidence....I think not.....lol
