I've got to say. The 405 blows giant chunks. I have no idea why AAA folks say you need to take the 405 when its full of construction and just plain annoying.

I-5 or nothing for me. Usually just driving by Seattle though so it makes sense.

I-5 for me.  There's an I 405?  Is there an I Robot?

PL

I-405 is on the other side of Lake Washington separating Bellevue from Seattle

I think it all depends where you want to go? I like the I-5. Unless it is rush hour in Seattle, it moves very decent. I have spent more time in Portland than Seattle though.

I-5. That's the only highway we know. Question.... what's the difference between a freeway and a highway?

nothing. Just depends on what part of the country you're from you'll use different meanings for the highway.
Highway
Freeway
Interstate

Outer Road
Service Road

freeway.....no stop signs or lights;  high speed limits

highway....has stop signs and lights, intersections, railroad crossings, pedestrian crossing, etc.............could have low speed limits. Could be Main Street in town with sidewalks and shops.....

Who is singing:  Life is a highway... I want to ride it all night long

(but then I have to make a break for the pedestrians and lil duckies..)

Funny, I'd disagree with you if this was circa '00. All the construction signs on the interstate always said "highway" over here. Now with the complete re-doing of I-64 over here I'm seeing 'Freeway' when the only time I ever saw 'Freeway' was out west.

The only time I've drive 405 is when staying in Seattle.

I always take I-5 when driving through.
