So, it's come to this. No more analog signals for your television in Feb next year. That means, you'll have to get a box to convert analog to digital for older tv sets Otherwise, you'll just have to chuck out the old telly and buy a new one.
I can't believe the bill passed. It should be up to the consumer whether they want to get digital or analog. Can you believe the amount of old tv that will end up in the landfill? And they say we're not doing enough for the environment. Sheesh.
Anyways, I brought this up before but now it seems it'll be reality in 2009. That's next year!

[P class=textBodyBlack][SPAN id=byLine][/SPAN]Legislation passed by the Senate on Wednesday would require broadcasters to end their traditional analog transmissions by Feb. 17, 2009, and send their signals digitally. Such technology promises super-sharp pictures and better sound.
[P class=textBodyBlack][SPAN id=byLine][/SPAN]The plan also would allocate as much as $1.5 billion for a "converter box" program to help people with older, analog TV sets that would lose their signal in the digital era. Consumer advocates say that is not enough money.
