There's a report in the New York Times mentioning that that the US has passed a law [a href="vny!://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/22/business/22light.html?_r=3&ex=1356152400&en=a3bd3c90eb102844&ei=5088&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss&oref=slogin&oref=slogin&oref=slogin"]barring stores from selling incandescent light bulbs[/a] after 2012.

The [a href="vny!://www.engadget.com/2007/03/10/all-of-eu-to-switch-off-energy-inefficient-lights-within-three-y/"]EU[/a] and [a href="vny!://www.engadget.com/2007/02/20/australia-to-phase-out-incandescent-bulbs-by-2010/"]Australia[/a] have already decided to ditch the inefficient devices in the not-too-distant future, but a new energy bill signed into law this week throws the US into the aforementioned group.
