I can't believe the prices for these tickets!! $500 and up for the Opening Ceremony?? Or a seat at the hockey game? It's outrageous! Normal folks wouldn't be able to afford them.

I think I'll just sit at home and watch the TV... at least I'll be warm and I can see it better.

  Geez... what a rip-off.

most of these tickets will be purchased by corporations and given to clients.......just part of the cost of doing business and to support the Olympics

Russ

[DIV align=center]I will pay for them... I have already sent in an email asking for tickets for two for the last three games in the gold cup ice hockey championships

I bet the biathlon is one of the cheaper events. Going to one of those live is like going to a college football game. Crowd goes Ohhhh ahhhh if the athlete shoots and misses their target.

cross country skiing is a good one to see as well.

speed skating would be fun to watch.

If it's like Expo '86, the contractors, sponsors and volunteers were comped tickets to the opening/closing and some of the events.  We got tickets through relatives who were contractors and through singing in youth choirs at various events.

I'm not gonna pay $$$ for a ticket, but I'll take a freebie if it comes to me! :)

Yes, Biathlon is gonna be a cheap event!!! So is x-country skiing.  Given the massive course, for much of the time, there is not much to "see".

Biathlon maybe on a big course but the action and the crowds are in the shooting part. Its exciting. The crowds chant, sing, any of the actual passing of people in the events is done in the shooting part.

Uh, was that to me, or SD? I was reading this thread and got lost here. lol. I seem to be doing that alot lately.

I probably wont go to any other events unless a group of friends are going and we can get a discount or something on a group... I sent in the email with a query.... if it is astronomical I prob wont go and will watch it on the tv. Otherwise to me its a once in a lifetime opportunity to see something like this IN bc! And to see Canada win the gold no less (shameless plug)

That's WAY out of our snack bracket.  No Olympics for us.

We have HD TV.....so that's exactly where we'll be watching.

Kind of makes you think the "spirit of the olympic games" has been lost in the wake of the corporate side of the olympics.  This isn't what Heracles intended when he started this whole business in ancient Greece....
