Hm. Depending on the hearing, basic cable may lose channels. *cries*

Stations jockey for place on basic cable in CRTC review

Hearings beginning Tuesday in Gatineau, Que., will reshape the face of the Canadian TV dial.

Canadian broadcasters are jockeying for a place in the coming digital universe, as the federal broadcasting regulator begins a complete review of what constitutes basic cable.

While some Canadian broadcasters, including major networks such as Global, CTV and CBC, are ensured a place, others have to make their cases before the Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission to get a spot on the dial.

The stations currently in the cable package that may lose their places are YTV, MuchMusic, CBC Newsworld, Vision TV and four other channels.

I don't think Newsworld will lose basic cable status nor the Weather Network.

Gaawwd...I wish someone would come out with a package option that I only pay for what I want.  400 channels and we only use about 6.  EVER.  It's a joke I tell ya !!   [img style="CURSOR: pointer" onclick=url(this.src); src="http://www.cheesebuerger.de/images/smilie/haushalt/d046.gif" border=0]        I feel ripped off.

yeah, the problem is if you decide what you want all those shopping networks would disappear and people would lose jobs.

Funny....I don't think I'd feel much guilt in that. I think the stations that aren't being watched SHOULD be left to fall off the end of the  assembly line.  Weed out the crapola I say.
