i only read the first page.

  did they ever find out what it was? sounds like alot of incompetent doctors.

These parents trusted the professionals and they let them down.  I skimmed the first page as well, but did look at some of the pictures/memories.  I felt shivers inside me.  It's totally sad... :(

What a precious angel now watching over that family.  

  Gaby had Rhabdomyosarcoma (a malignant tumor in the soft tissues of the body, including the muscles, tendons, and connective tissues) that metastasized into Leptomeningeal metastases (cancer that has spread to the two innermost layers of tissues that cover the brain and spinal cord).

  It is still a rare type of cancer (it accounts for just 5-8% of childhood cancers) so no wonder it took so long for the doctors at Children's to figure it out.  Hopefully we can all learn from this, the doctors included, and it won't take so long to diagnose next time.
